Is there a way to simultaneously send selected progress note(s) with attached imported items (Like EKGs, consult notes, etc.) as a single fax operation without printing it all out first.

You can do that easily with Updox. I don't know if it can be done otherwise.

I suppose one way would be use CutePDF to capture the output, then use a fax machine/server that can send from PDF.
Some will depend on what you are starting with for faxing.

Just as Indy outlines above:
For those of us Paperport lovers, it is done easily. We "print" the note and any II we want to go with it to PP black and white documents. So, these are all PDFs in one PP folder. Then, we stack them all and fax electronically with our Brother MFP.

Another way is to use a program called pdfRedirect. You print to PDF and each one is added to the list. You can change the order, decide to delete one and not include it in the final stage and preview what it will look like.
The program is FREE.
I use both it and cutePDF a lot. You will "print to PDF" then fax then discard (or save.)
This is a nice way of combining the entire chart for faxing out releases.

I was using Paperport for awhile but it seemed like there were many online complaints about the versions that came out after version 9. Last version I used was version 9, which worked fairly well. Then I stopped because I adopted a EMR what preferred TIFF file format and converting back to PDF for Paperport became a giant pain. Now, using AC but still haven't returned to PP. What has happened with PP since version 9?

I don't know about Paperport, but with Updox you just "print to Updox" and send the item to the recipient...which can be by fax if they have a fax number in your address book.
