Marty, hadn't tried a different PC, largely because the PC I am using it on is the newest and fastest one in my office, but I'll certainly try it on another one just to confirm..

Jimmie, I am hardwired throughout, so that prob isn't the issue for me, but as your nurse has noted, we do have a lot of imported items across the board. However, not sure how that would necessarily impact Updox's function while I'm editing/saving an item prior to sending/faxing....

I have definitely noticed the same behavior, sometimes several times a day, sometimes not for several days. I can't show it to Customer Service, since I can't reproduce it. To recover I have to restart Updox.

I haven't been too aggressive pursuing it, since we process over a thousand documents a month with Updox, and it happens to 5-10 of these.

I haven't noticed the issue myself--although once in awhile updox will have server issues that causes updox to become nonfunctional for short periods.

Luis,
I would agree with John. I suspect that we have all seen those behaviors with Updox; the issue is how frequently they occur. For me, they are are rare (except during the "server issues" that Jimmie describes; then you just have to wait it out). If it is happening regularly, I would ask Updox support to remote-in and take a look.

Hey everybody, just wanted to pop in and let you know that if you are experiencing slow scrolling in the image editor, we do have a fix that has worked for others. It involves a little behind the scenes work, so if you're interested, just drop an email to support@updox.com and we'll get you taken care of.

Also, I'd just like to say thanks to all our customers who are answering these questions, I'm really impressed with the quality of the responses. Well done, I don't really even need to be here. smile

Tobin, if you are still around, I noticed that Updox closes every night. Is this to allow updates?

Not really, it's more for security reasons. A lot of our users never sign out, they'll just leave Updox running for weeks at a time. This isn't a great idea in general, to say nothing of the HIPAA issues.

The new functionality is that Updox will close itself if there is no computer activity in 2 hours. It's not just watching Updox; if you're using AC for 3 hours, Updox will stay open. It's when you get up and walk away and there's no keyboard/mouse activity.

Tobin,
Maybe this is not appropriate on Melanie's thread, but I am intrigued on how you guys came up with your product. If you don't answer I understand, if you do it would help dampen my curiosity.

Finally figured it out;
Under "Settings" in My Profile, I had the check box for "Use Local Workspace" checked. I unchecked it, and since then, problem resoved; Updox working great again.
Interestingly, there's a small "footnote" under that particular setting which indicates it is still under beta, but should "improve performance".... unfortunately, in my case at least, it was significantly hindering performance.
Thank you for all the responses.

I am curious as to how others are using the Updox Forms ability.

It does not appears as thought the Updox form will "parse" into AC. For example, I cannot have patients update their demographics in a Updox form and have it update the demographics is AC. It could still be useful for this if they could legally sign it. But I don't think they can do so.

So again, how do Updox users utilize the Forms functionality?

I just saw a demo of their latest updates that allows patients to update their demographics to flow into AC, as well as on-line scheduling functionality that also makes it into AC. Some of that is separate functionality that you can choose to license [or not]

We recommend that practices look at using forms to communicate with patients, or patients with the practice, when it saves time (esp. phone tag). Common examples are appointment resked or cancels, refills (often a form that starts by saying call the pharmacy before you fill out the form), request for a referral, lab results. Your practice will know what are the calls that take 80% of the time and could be handled by messaging.

Indy, is this a coming attraction? May 10th is the latest update I see, and I do not recognize this capability.

I gave Sean a quick buzz to make sure that I wasn't talking out of school, and they did two web sessions to show off the new stuff. I'd reach out to Updox directly to get the pricing/functionality details.

Hmm, interesting question Jimmie. There was actually a previous version of Updox years ago, it was completely desktop based and basically just tied Onebox and Amazing Charts together. You could import your Onebox faxes into AC and fax/email out, but that was about it. It worked, but it was pretty rough around the edges.

In 2008, a small group of us bought the IP (intellectual property) from the original owners and started to rebuild the software. It took us a couple of iterations to figure out what we wanted to do, but we really found our stride helping get faxes into Amazing Charts, and we've just gone from there.

Many of our features have been requests from customers over the years, but our team also has a lot of experience in approaching situations and figuring out how we can use technology to solve problems or increase efficiency. Between those two, we've slowly been building Updox over the past several years into what is now, and we're not done yet. smile

Does that answer your question?

Jon, thanks for the heads up. I may have missed the e-mail, thinking it was something else. I will ask my staff to attend.

Tobin,
Yes, that answers my question. Thank you for your answer. And thank you for your continually evolving product that helps keep me running my little "repair shop".
