Amber's post reminds me of something I wanted to ask. I notice in the MOST RECENT ENCOUNTERS, next to the "Physical Exam" tab there is a tab for "pictures". I added a couple pictures of a patients ulcer. The note was saved but when I look for them after the note is signed off they aren't there. The pictures are not in the note nor are they in the IMPORTED ITEMS section.
Is this a bug?

You have to return to the note on that date and they are in the photo pane above the CPX window.

The photos show when you click the "Pictures" tab above next to the physical exam tab. I suspect that's what was meant.

One of AC's quirks... as John says, you must go to the note on that date. But you cannot do it through the usual approach (via the "Past Encounters" tab). You must go to the "Most Recent Encounter" tab and scroll (at the top, under today's date and time) to the appropriate date. When you scroll to a date where you took a picture, you will see a generic thumbnail on the "Pictures" tab next to the "Physical Exam" tab. That is your only hint that a picture is there.
I have always felt this somewhat limits the utility of the picture tab (and the confidential tab); there is no way to know if there is content on those tabs, without going through the above process (date by date on any given patient) and seeing it. I think it would be helpful to have a clue somewhere that the chart contains pictures or confidential info.

I was trying to click on the exam date in the exam part of Most Recent Encounters. I see now where you are talking about. Not the easiest way to find pics.
Thanks everyone, learn something new all the time here.

I agree with Jon that the way it works limits the utility.. not only do you have to remember THAT you took a photo, you have to remember WHEN you took it.
It might be more effective to import via UpDox or print it to a PDF file and import it that way, so it was always accessible via imported items. Remember, it is now possible in UpDox to set the user settings to import in millions of colors, so the resolution is good.

remember you have to push the "save" button every time you change the settings. I always seem to forget.

Today, for the first time, I attached a picture to an encounter. It was there, I saved the note. When I went back to check , using the method as above from most recent encounter, it is gone.
I did delete the picture from its original file location. Is this the problem, does it have to stay there? Does AC just link to that, or was it supposed to be added to the AC database?

Donna,
If I remember correctly, in order to view the picture you have to select the date the picture was taken (from the MOST RECENT ENCOUNTER page)in the physical exam area. Once the date is highlighted, go to the Pictures tab and it should be there.

Donna,
I had the same issue not too long ago. I don't think the picture thing is very user friendly. There is no way to look at the chart and see if there are any pictures there without doing what I told you.
