We just joined a PO here in West Michigan. This has been a real eye opening experience. We had intially joined so we could get the PGIP dollars from Blue Cross Blue Shield, but upon joining I learned about PCMH and the huge list of requirements that we are not following/or have written down.

Out of roughly 130 initiatives we only have low 20's in place. We discovered this after having one of the BSN's from the PO come to our office and go over the requirements with us. After this visit we were told and agree that Amazing Charts, while a great EMR for the price, is severely limited in its capabilities.

Many of this initiatives involve tracking and reporting on patients with chronic conditions. We currently have not been doing this and upon investigation with Amazing Charts I do not think it is currently possible.

Amazing Charts did show me this:

I am just curious on how others meet this requirements while using amazing charts?

Thanks!

Ben

????PCMH???? What makes you want to do a fool thing like that?????

Sorry, no insult intended. When I first read about PCMH, I thought" boy what a pos. Here they go trying to rip doctors off again."

The PCMH and the ACO shift the insurance risk of taking care of a patient from the insurance company to YOU! Worse, there actually is no risk because it seems you are practically guarenteed to lose.

Even better, Alice was at a presentation by someone from the AMA or something. They tried to make it sound positive. But what he litterally said was "They have actuaries and statisticians that have figured out how much it cost to take care of a patient <with illnesses>. They will pay you an annual amount equal to around 80% of that amount. If you can take care of the patient or less, you get to keep the difference." LOL

Really, this is what they are trying to get doctors to do.
