I am beginning to set up AC for my office. Couple of issues (for now) trying to find answers for: 1) Is there a way to know that the front desk has checked in a patient so nurse knows they are ready to be roomed? 2) How do you send order to entire nursing "group" rather then each nurse individually? 3)How do you know which room the patient is in for both nurses and docs? Any way to put room # on schedule or something?

Hello, welcome to the user board. As for your questions, you can send an order to the nursing group by selecting the NURSING groupbox in the orders window. There's a dropdown menu next to the Print order button. When you send the order, everyone with Nursing level access can get the order. However, they won't get an individual message in their inbox. To get the order, anyone with NURSING level access would have to select the NURSING inbox from the message screen to see the order.

We have multiple providers in our office with multiple exam rooms. We use a clipboard with a piece of paper covered with clear plastic. I made a checklist with our most common visits and left blank area as well. We use dry erase markers to write on the form. We still use a paper superbill so that has the patients name. When the patient leaves, we wipe it off for the next patient. No wasted paper.

You could have your staff send you a message that there's a patient for you in a specific room. I'm not sure how your office is set up as far as flow goes.

More information would be helpful as would a name. The nice thing about AC is there's usually more than one way to do things. This board is a valuable resource. Good luck!

Thanks Marty,
So if you want an ekg in a certain room, how does a nurse know which room the patient is in?
The other problem I've had is when I send a message to "nurse group", it is not going to the nurses. It will only to a nurse if I specify which nurse. I would like to use the grouping and can't seem to get it to work. Any ideas there?

Dave,

Are your nurses set up in the ADMIN section to having NURSING level access?

Dave,

How exactly are you sending messages to your nursing group? To send a message to all your nurses, select "GROUPBOX [NURSING]" in the TO section of the message screen. In order for anyone with NURSING level access to get your message, they have to go to the NURSING inbox. The message won't go to their individual inbox.

Marty,
Maybe I need to set up nurses inbox differently. I'll have to look into that. I thought they would get general "nurse group" messages in their inboxes but guess that's not the case. I'll have to figure that one out.
