Hi all,
Working in a Podiatrist's office and am unsure about one of the most straightforward measures!
Currently we take Blood Pressure and ask for Height and Weight from the patient.
I have seen that CMS allows using a patient's response for the Height category, but haven't seen any variance or direction on the weight. The language of the measure says to 'record' the height, weight, and BP.
If we dont have to actually 'measure' the weight with a scale, then great. I wanted to see how everyone on here takes care of recording the patients' weight.

I would put ht/wt that they tell you and add to Vitals Note - Pt. stated ht/wt.

Hate to say it, but people dont tell the truth and you may be the one to see it if you take a good weight and height. When weight fluctuates I find many medical problems that would go unheeded. Thyroid, kidney and heart disease require good weight measurements, so CMS better not allow a patient to just give us a number or it really will be called meaningless use.my 2 cents. Hope South Bend is nice, I grew up in South Seattle...

I agree and have a sign telling pt. they have to weigh - blamed the government. That being said I think Podiatry has little recourse and should do okay with the above. I know my hospital has MU requirement for this and take stated all the time.
P.S. South Bend is fine - lots of rain, but that is why it is so green.
