Okay, so far over the last 4-5 years, I have had people from 4 practices come to my office, some more than once, to see AC in action and ask questions. I also have taken calls from at least 3 other providers inquiring about AC and all 7 eventually bought the program. Just wondering, Am I entitled to a big fat commission from AC? Maybe a discount on my annual subscription/support fee?
I'm sure I'll be getting more inquiries...

Cebuano,
The way I look at the situation is that I researched and have gotten my 4 of my partners interested and now using, and 2 others to follow, (one currently is using e-clinical). Also a general surgeon and a nephrologist looked at and one may and the other is using, And several others. My commision is knowing that these fellow physicians whom I respect and trust will be happier and more likely to stay in business with utilizing AC. If I can help them avoid getting into a software product that is not as user friendly or affordable, they will less likely be gobbled up by the hospital to be employed and stay on their own running their own business. The more we as physicians can run and manage our own businesses the better off medicine is. I wish someone like you had shown me AC 5 years ago, but only until I had the eprescribing penalty shake me into reality did I discover AC. I am skirting around your questions, and I realize this, but the cost of AC is substantially lower than any comparable product available. I don't have any stake in this other than being grateful for being able to stay in business and run my own "popsickle stand"--and spend the quality time with my patients to keep them coming back in to see me.

The more people use AC the more likely they are to be a successful business and the less likely you are to need to find a new EMR. That is your commission. How valid would your opinion be if you were paid to render it?

Posting on the board is kind of like the dark ages when I would be trying to work on a relationship with a girlfriend who was on another continent, and I was having to rely on airmail. I found it was really dangerous to make even a minimally humorous statement, as there was nothing else to help her interpret it, no smile, no inflection. It led to some awful misinterpretations.
Cebuano, Bill and others here spend a lot of effort promulgating AC and supporting its users without thought of recompense. My guess is your initial posting was largely in jest, but even with emoticons a member who has had a mildly frustrating day unrelated to you might take it wrong. And, I remember being in central Australia, opening a letter from my soon to be ex-girlfriend that might as well have been one of Harry Potter's "Howlers." Makes me shudder even yet.

Cebuano,
David is quite perceptive=--I am a bit raw right now as the local monopolistic hospital is strongarming everyone in becoming an employeed physician--and I am really overjoyed at being part of the AC family right now that I do get a bit overexuberant at times. But having the ability to have an EHR that is not only functional but practical will allow me to be efficient and self employed and continue doing what I love on a daily basis.
