Our physician would like the diagnosis code to appear on his printed discharge summary. Can anyone talk me through how to make this happen?

Crawford,
Can you explain exactly what you mean by the discharge summary?

If he is writing a standard note as a discharge summary, it should show up in the Assessment section when he picks the dx.

If he is writing it as a letter, there is an option to the L to add the assessments from the last visit, which would give him dx's.

I agree with Jon, it's not quite clear what he wants.

Thanks for the response. I am the middleman and agree that there was a lack of clarity. Yes, it is the letter writer he is referring to. I see the check boxes including assessment in the include encounter section. The problem is that they are grayed out and not available to check. How does one go about making them available?

I'm guessing they were grayed because there was no prior note with corresponding information. It's easier to just do a note the regular way and save it.
