I have some questions about complying with the meaningful use part of ac. I find that the check smoking comes up no matter what age the child is. Often the vital signs with bp might not be completed in infants, and this comes up as not done. Also, is it a standard to print out this clinical summary at each visit. If so, it seems that the current visit will not show up unless the record is signed off.- so does one print off the visit before or after the visit is signed off. and does this seem in any way helpful to the families that receive it?
I know my questions are a little vague, but I am trying to sort out how to use these tools correctly and hopefully to some patient benefit.

Also, can someone tell me what the check box 'no active diagnosis' means when checked or not. or if it is listed in the plan, when the note is signed

I just noticed there is a whole section on meaningful use. I guess I put this in the wrong place.

REPLYS (Sorry about the caps, but it makes it easy to distinguish)
I find that the check smoking comes up no matter what age the child is. SHOULD ONLY POP UP (AS GREENISH)ONLY OVER THE AGE OF 12. IT IS THERE YOUNGER BUT NOT GREEN.
Often the vital signs with bp might not be completed in infants, and this comes up as not done. HADN'T PAID ATTENTION TO THIS, IT SHOULD BE REPORTED AS A BUG IF THE REPORTS COUNT IT, ALSO BECAUSE IT IS GREEN UNDER AGE OF 2.
Also, is it a standard to print out this clinical summary at each visit. SOME DO, SOME DON'T. I OFTEN PRINT IT AS A RECORD OF THE E-SCRIPTS
If so, it seems that the current visit will not show up unless the record is signed off.- so does one print off the visit before or after the visit is signed off. and does this seem in any way helpful to the families that receive it? WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO ACCOMPLISH. YOU CAN PRINT BEFORE FINISHING BY GOING TO FILE > PRINT > PRINT CURRENT NOTE AS DRAFT. OR YOU CAN PRINT INSTRUCTIONS WHICH JUST PRINTS THE PLAN. FORM MU THE LATTER IS ALL YOU NEED TO DO.

The patient's expectation is that you have all the answers, sometimes they just don't like the answer you have for them

As for the smoking box- it is not highlighted for a 6 year old, but when I click the meaningful use tab, it will show up in red color as not entered- so I do not know if this is a reporting problem or not.
For the vitals, I will look to see how it reports out.
For the clinical summary, I meant the CCD. If I print the CCD as it comes at the same time as the clinical summary of the plan, it will not include current medications, or current diagnosis. So to print it at the end of the visit before the note is signed, the CCD is not current. To do it as a current CCD, I would need to do it after I sign the note. Am I missing something here, because this is extra effort that I would like to not have to do.
