Anyone having issue with MU Core Measure 6 not counting all patients in the numerator for the demographics requirement?

I run the MU report weekly. Since January it has steadily declined from 99% to the present 76%. It has been holding the past several weeks between 74-77%. I don't understand why.

Last year to meet the requirement, we went through every single record and identified the race/preferred language of all patients in our practice (closed to new patients).

I press the blue "MU" button during EVERY ENCOUNTER and it NEVER says I have yet to record demographics for a patient (because they are all have values inputted to their demographics). However the percentage does not reflect that all patients are accounted for. Very odd.

I don't care that much at this point because we are beating the minimum 50% requirement. HOWEVER when additional MU stages require that we achieve higher standards, I don't want to be forfeiting federal dollars when AC isn't counting all patients in the numerator.

Any thoughts?

I have seen the same thing. We did the same as you and went through every record last year to input the demographics. And, I also run the MU report weekly and have also seen my numbers dropping. Also like you, still way ahead of the minimum so I have not done anything about it.

Yes we definitely need AC Support to chime in.... PLEASE!!!

I admit that i am using a newer beta version but I have seen in older versions where this happened. I would suggest getting a spare or a laptop and installing your current version of and copying your database, run mu report and then upgrade to newest on website and run mu report again. See if it corrects your issue, if it does not then you can stay on current ac.

I don't think my count is accurate either.
It is hard to imagine that you need something newer than 6.0.10 to make this work.

There was an issue with the demographics criteria calculating incorrectly in the MU Wizard. We have found that in some cases the query was including the Barriers to Communication field found on the demographics page, next to Language Preference. Of course, that field is not a MU requirement and therefore, this was causing false numbers in the MU Wizard. With that being said, this issue has been resolved by rewriting the query in version 6.2.

We are holding off on all upgrades until version 6.3 is available. Version 6.3 is slated to be released by the end of the month.

ok, thank you katie. I didn't want to risk any unforeseen issues with an upgrade that isn't ready for release, especially when it's to fix a M.U. issue that really isn't causing us to fail the criteria at this time.

OBTW, non-medical Dragon wlll turn off the microphone when I attempt to dictate into the ACUB when posting!!
For those of you who use medical dragon, does it happen for you (e.g. the we site is disabling the microphone so run on / ramble on posts are harder -- vs. built into dragon somehow finding something in the active window that it thinks is AC EMR??)

I can dictate into the ACUB with Dragon Medical 11

Interesting.
I get "turned off" at home as well as the office when posting to the ACUB using Dragon Premium (non-medical).
So Dragon is looking at SOMETHING in the active IE window and is thinking it is AC.
AND turns off microphone with Chrome as well.
