Medicare will not allow you to send CMS forms that are longer than 2 pages unless the total for the complete surgery is lilsted on only the second CMS 1500 form. AC will not allow us to leave the total for the charges blank on the first of the two sheets and simply aggregate the total for the two CMS forms on the bottom of the second sheet. How can we do this is A/C such that it will leave the total blank on CMS sheet 1 and add all of the charges on the second form's total? This is a problem for me since I am a surgeon and many cases have over 6 CPT codes per procedure.

As far as I know there is not a way to do this and from what I'm hearing it will not be offered with the new PM update either. My issue has been putting the same CPT code on different lines which AC won't let you do, you have to bill it as multiple units. So instead of putting down 8 injections codes I can just put it once with a unit # of 8. That was great when I sent in a claim for $1000 and got paid $100 because to Anthem I charged 1000 for one injection not for 10. Made my day! Hopefully someone will have a work around for you. Right now I have a "dummy" CPT code with a charge of $0 that I enter in that makes my clearingout bounce the claim back to be corrected online which I then do to make the codes work out.
