I am posting a screen shot of my alternative ERx program to show the contrast to Newcrop/AC. This is the choose medication window. It is a beautiful interface with all of the things we would like. Please note: -Local and mail order pharmacies -Formulary info all available on this screen: shows preferred with smiley face and $ sign; any alternatives for non-preferred would appear in the boxes on the right. -All prior rx listed sequentially (including other prescribers) I continue to hope that AC will find a way to get a better (and more reliable) prescribing solution.

Thanks for the contrast, Donna. I for one am not impressed with Surescripts.

Leslie, I think you mean Newcrop.
It is hard to understand who does what, but here is my understanding: EMR AC designs screens etc in prescriber interface Newcrop is the actual prescribing software with interaction checking, etc Surescripts is the connector between ALL prescribing software in the US and pharmacies.
So, from prior discussions, our issues generally are attributable to AC and Newcrop. Corrections are welcome if this is not right.

Just for kicks, here are two screen shots from the NewCrop screens in AC. This sheds a little light on what is behind the interface that AC constructs on top of these screens. You can get to these screens on any patient, with a little effort. The first form shows prescriptions from ALL prescribers (not just our office) with pharmacies for each. The layout is pretty similar to what Donna showed. No smiley faces, though. And you can add a second pharmacy, but AC will not remember it.

I wonder how many AC users know how to get to these screens. This is the problem, it is a real effort to find this information. One can't possibly search for this on every patient. And, the formulary information is not included in the list.
In Allscripts, all of this information is effortless, and right in front of you ever time you prescribe a med. I had occasion to use it today, and I am still pining for my old program! Perhaps I should change my avatar to whiny piglet.

I wish that in the "Deny" reason dropdown there was a choice of "Scheduled Drug". I am so weary of having to write this in the comment section and watching it laboriously scribe one letter every 5 seconds.

Donna, I also really miss my Allscripts program. You neglected to mention my favorite part, where you could print the controlled substances and e-prescribe the rest with the same button click. No need to enter two different sets of medications.

David, I still get my refill requests in Allscripts. It avoids the hassles other users describe with matching requests and such in AC. I usually just deny, and then write what is needed in AC so it is included in the AC record.
Also, when Newcrop lets us down, I can continue working and do the rx in Allscripts.
And yes, to your point, the ability to send to more than one pharmacy simultaneously or send/print simultaneously is great in Allscripts. This morning, I had 6 rx written for a patient in AC. She requested some to go to mail order and some local, and I had to say sorry, can only send to one at a time. To which she said "You did it before", and I had to reply, "The previous software was better for prescriptions."

Hello Everyone,
First I would like to assure our users, E-Rx inside of Amazing Charts is an ongoing project for our dev team. We are constantly trying to find ways to enhance and streamline our interface. Your suggestions for improvement are very much appreciated and taken seriously.
Please find listed below a few answers addressing your concerns as provided by the clinical team leader.
1. Deny reason of "scheduled drug" - Best solution is to Accept the refill request and AC will automatically print the prescription and send the Denial with deny reason to the pharmacy. The Deny reason dropdown options are preset by Surescripts and were not our choice of how we would like to see those options.
2. Formulary ? we are currently in the process of getting our Formulary and Drug history certifications from Surescripts. Once we have these certifications, we will be able to include the drug formulary information on our screens (this information is currently available on the New Crop screens by selecting the Formulary menu option from the Write Scripts page). Also this will allow clinicians to view medications prescribed for the patient by other clinicians and import that information into Amazing Charts. We expect this to be included in our July release.
3. Prescription eligibility ? as we update to the 5010A1 Surescripts 10.6 standard, we will also be able to check patient prescription eligibility benefits, which will speed the processing of Mail Order pharmacy transactions
4. Multiple pharmacies ? This has been a popular recommend improvement request and it is our goal to include the option for 2 pharmacies (as many patients have a local and mail order pharmacy) in our July release. The July release will be geared toward updating and improving the medication features in the program.
Thank you for your continued support, Craig@AC

Craig, This is what I get when I perform your first recommendation. In Indiana, we have to write scheduled drugs on special scripts so this does not help me at all. We can respond by fax to faxes initiated by pharmacies requesting refills on scheduled drugs. So I still have to deny and remind the pharmacy they cannot send electronic requests for scheduled drugs.

Bert, ERx is not free. AC pays a fee every year to Newcrop for each of our licenses. This is passed along to us as part of the annual AC fee. I have asked before how much the fee is, but never received an answer.
