Hello everyone,

I'm back after a long absence away. Our HMO was going to get us an EMR, but recently decided against it. So once again we are on our own looking for a system. I keep coming back to amazing charts because I think it's a really terrific system for the price. I've downloaded the three months trial and today was the first day that I practiced using it seeing patients in the office. I'm a lousy typist so I've been using Dragon Medical version 10. I'm also using the MyBuddy Stylus Mike, but have ?
ordered the Philips speech mike II (the older one,not the new one) and that will be coming next week. my problem is this: when I first started dictating the charts, everything worked great. I would sign off on the note and after I did this the window would come up which asked me if I wanted to print the note. I would select printing to the default printer, and the note popped out with my electronic signature. For some reason during the course of the day, this changed. When I completed the chart and signed off on the chart, it closed the chart down and the window did not appear asking me if I wanted to print out the note. I had to go back into the patient list bring up the chart again
and then click on file to print the chart. When it printed out this way, it printed out as a draft copy, and no longer had my electronic signature. I have no idea what I may have done during the course of the day to cause this.

If anyone can help me with this I would greatly appreciate it. I plan to do dictating both tomorrow and Friday, and it would certainly go a lot faster if the note would print out like it did initially.

Thanks in advance for your help,
Melanie

Melanie,
From the main screen, either hit ctrl-U OR go to Edit...My preferences...User preferences. Look at the "documentation preferences tab" for "Don't show the print note/letter window after signing the chart". This should NOT be checked to get what you want.

There is a preference to pop up the Print Note/Letters window after signing off an Encounter Note.

At the top of the main window, go to Edit>My Preferences>User Preferences. In the window that opens, click the Documentation Preferences tab at the top. In the "Print Note Window" section in the middle, make sure there isn't a check mark in the "Print Note/Letter" selection.

While on the subject, though, I keep it from coming up too. I would have it come up (one more click to close it) IF and this is on the Big 81, I could bring up that patient by clicking on the patient name. That would be awesome for me with all of the "just one more things."

I don't understand what you mean, Bert. Can you elaborate?

Sure. When that window pops up, it gives several options which can be helpful. None of the options allow you to click on the patient you just saw to open the chart. If your nurse triages in the room, their name will be right there in the list, but if they triage at a difference computer, the name of the patient in the patient list is buried deep in the list. So you have to go find it. This doesn't seem like a big deal, but it would be nice to be able to pull it right up.

Maybe if pull up chart, pull up orders or pull up ePrescribe.

Thanks so much, guys!! I was hoping that it would be a simple fix...

On my way to work now, and will try it...
