Is there a way to set up a schedule for my MA so we can set up appointments for blood draws, etc. It seems that I can only construct a schedule for a provider, not another user. How have other people done this?

you could make the MA a "provider" and have a separate schedule for that person.

Is there really no way to do it without giving my MA "provider" status? Wouldn't that allow her to do a lot of things that she shouldn't have access to? Also, wouldnt' Amazing Charts charge me for the extra "Provider"
Seems like there has to be another way.

Only providers can have a schedule, so you need to create a provider to create a schedule.

To avoid actually giving the MA provider status, you could keep your MA with her current status and create a provider named, for example, "Schedule", with a password that only you would know. Use it to schedule, but nothing else (no messages, etc.).

It seems that there may be an unstated policy by AC to ignore "phantom" providers and not charge for them. These are providers like the one I just described who do not see patients, create notes, or prescribe. Hopefully this fair and generous approach by AC will continue.

exactly, I highly doubt AC will charge you money for a fictional provider that you are creating as work-around to a limitation in the program. they are very generous in this regard.

Jon's way will work, but it depends on whether you want to take on the extra load of scheduling procedures.

Not to be coy, but you can't have it both ways. I have security, but it didn't stop my MA from prescribing Vicodin to herself.

I would have to say if you can't trust your MA/Staff, then why have them work for you.

We made a dummy Provider called "nurse" that lets us schedule nurse visits. This is where we also put all the reminders to get sent out for visits so it has multiple uses.

Solo practice has it's headaches but beats being an employee.

Agreed, Steve, that is another good use for this system.

Bert, I don't understand this.

I am probably confused since I don't use the scheduler. I guess you could have another provider with another schedule, and your nurse could still schedule the procedures.

Not to quibble, Bert, but you CAN have it both ways; the MA has MA status and cannot prescribe, write notes, or do anything else you might not want. The schedule is created for the MA, and anyone can enter appointments in it.

Nothing to quibble about here when you correct yourself.
