Hi Everyone,
I am a longtime lover of AC. Recently, the surgery centers and hospitals where I work will not accept orders or Procedure Notes(Addendums) that are signed with my name in simple text and "Electronic Signature" under my name. I have explained to them that I have "signed off" on these items but they print out these items and make me sign them. It is a huge waste of my time. They want a curvy signature or a scanned signature at the end of the Procedure Notes or Orders.
Am I missing out on some functionality with Amazing Charts? I am able to print out letters with my scanned signature to other physicians.
Is there a work around to get scanned signatures on Procedure Notes(Addendum Notes) and Orders.
Much thanks in advance.

as you note, it is on letter.
So the question is: can this appear on NOTES? good question, why not?
The requirements for electronic signature in California are relatively clear, and I have some "juice" with our local facilities, so have NOT had this issue, as least not last more that a call to the VP for that service line.

I spend several amusing moments every week sparring with "jerk clerks" over electronic signatures, stamped signatures, etc. The same person who wants a document with an original signature asks for it to be faxed...duh!
It's hard to have a battle of wits when the other person is unarmed.

Don't get me started!! If I am faxed a Medicare-required document or a renewal request from certain states (such as Arizona and Kansas) which say they cannot accept stamped signatures and they also refuse electronic signatures, I have shortkeys templates which state "If an original signature is required, then an original document must be mailed to me along with a SASE". Or, "I do not practice in the state of Arizona. An electronic signature is legal in Indiana. If you cannot accept this then either mail me the original renewal request along with a SASE or advise the patient they may have their script filled in their home state."

You may want to review this brief article from Jan 10, 2012 Medical Economics, CLICK HERE Under the article "Acceptable electronic signatures" you will see the CMS referenced rule. You might consider taking this back to the "jerk clerks" next time they hassle you about "electronically signed by..."
