Things seem pretty quiet now. We're thinking it is time to take the plunge. Anyone have any feelings you need to cry "NO! Don't jump! Think of your wife and children who still love you!!"?

Hi David,
Your wife and kids still love you.
6.1.1 has been a winner so far.

David,
Even I have no major problems with 6.1.1 other than the sigs on meds does not stay remembered.

What about that person who said that multiple reminders on a single patient were no longer visible?

Actually, we are just about to release 6.1.2 to rapid-release beta that fixes a few problems we caused in 6.1.1 - like the inability for multiple modifiers to be saved and a couple others. (Just waiting for enough beta testers to install and use it to move it to the rapid-release beta level.)

Thank you for the rapid update. A couple of weeks delay won't hurt us.

Okay, V6.1.2 is available as a Rapid Release Beta, and can be found at that link. Main changes are: - In script writer, recently used meds/dosages now are displayed when matching previously prescribed meds/dosages. Previously if over 100 meds/dosages were prescribed by a provider more recent ones wouldn't display.
- Current Med screen sped up.
- Multiple modifiers for a single CPT on the billing screen fixed - we broke it in V6.1.1 so it only allowed 1 modifier.
- TSP800 printer issue of printing small when it's not the default printer should be fixed (we hope - Bert, let us know!).

Wonderful. For those of us upgraqding from 5.029, should we still disable hardware acceleration? Any other tweaks that are required?

I do not believe that will be necessary any longer.

Jon, Your picture is very nice, but I might suggest a nice avatar. Perhaps a wizard, as in the meaningful use type. I have nothing serious to comment on at present, so I am just focused on fun avatars! Note the lovely weasel that David has added.
As JBS noted in another thread, the MU wizard really did make the process as easy as it could be (with one aggravation as noted in the MU forum re the need to add CPT code). I am using 6.0.10 in the office with no big problems, although the faster script writer will be nice.

Fairly new to the board....
Anyhow, I had alot of performance problems with shutdowns, errors, connection errors etc. with 6.0.1 so I upgraded to 6.1.2 last Friday. Everything worked great on Monday then yesteday we were back to where we started....multiple errors and shutdowns yesterday.
My main is an i7 8 RAM, I have 3 workstations (2 i3 w/6 RAM and 1 Pentium with 4 RAM) all computers have Win 7 Pro.
I don't understand? Before I invest in a server and new hardware, I need to be sure the issue is my hardward and network verus something with AC. ANy help would be appreciated.

I don't understand the hardware problems people are having.
My setup is a fairly basic dual-core motherboard from Newegg running Win7 Pro 32 for the "server" and a variety of home-built machines and laptops off Ebay (mostly T61's, one T200 tablet) and a Motion Computing tablet. We have 4 printers-- one a network laserjet off ebay, two are hooked to an Asus EEPC running WinXP for a network print server and one attached to a computer. There is also a scanner, and there are two WiFi access points. We all use UpDox.
In other words -- built like Topsy, and hardly sophisticated. Yet this system has run every version of AC that I have tried since 5.xx -- and we haven't had a lot of slowdowns or errors. The Motion Computing machine is a beast, and creates a lot of errors and problems after it has been used for a few hours -- it also gets very hot. Otherwise, anything I use seems to work fine. I do a lot of work from home, using Remote Desktop.
So far, I don't see any need to jump into "Server Class" -- whatever that is. Am I missing something?

Do you have problem runing AC on your main computer or on the clients ? Is you network wired or wireless ? Check if you have backlog in the deleted items folder.

Do you have problem runing AC on your main computer or on the clients ? Is you network wired or wireless ? Check if you have backlog in the deleted items folder. Most of the problems are on the clients, but yesterday I actually had a "connection error" using the main computer. Otherwise the main computer rarely has any issues and works extremely fast. One of the clients is on wireless and other 2 are wired. I did clear the dleeted items folder last week which definitely helped the startup time for AC. I had an IT guy here today and felt the issue may be my switch, which he states is not "business grade" and may be the problem. We have a new one ordered and will see how this goes. Thanks Christian Neurology

Upgrading switch is a good idea. Hardwire all clients if you can. I would also check firewall and antivirus program settings on the main computer. Also make sure that your internet is working well.

The internet connection has been an issue at times and we are switching to a new ISP. I am really not the most technically savvy person so when you say "check your firewall and antivirus settings"--what do you mean? We have our firewall to the main computer off??? We have tried several antivirus softwares and all of them slow it down. What is actually recommended? Thanks again Christian Neurology

Firewall and antivirus should be set to accept connections with your AC on the clients. I have been using AVG antivirus program for years. I know that McAffee can create a lot of headaches. I am not sure about Norton. Please update if your system is working well after switch and internet upgrade.

alot of performance problems with shutdowns, errors, connection errors etc. Is the connection error that the client cannot find the database? I have had this intermittently as well. What helped me was setting a fixed network IP Address for the "main computer". If this seems to be the case, you may find this thread useful.

I use a small-business Cisco router and a Gigabyte network switch. We also have a static IP address on the DSL line. Making those changes (from cheaper networking equipment) solved a lot of problems in the network.
I think that must be where most people's trouble is coming from -- the nature of the client machine, or even the server, doesn't seem to me to make a huge difference.

I never had any issues with 6.0.1 so I am going to stay with this version for now.
