Can anyone heartily endorse any outside billing solution they are using? I have been using SureData, now Cascade Billing but they are dropping me (with 3 days notice!). I see export formats for i-Plexus and Office Ally. Anyone happy with these companies?

I use OfficeAlly but we don't export as there has always been a problem with that. It's not so much a billing solution as it is a clearing house. They now have a PM system that seems to be working fairly well.

Jay,
I see you are from my old stomping grounds downstate. Where are you exactly. My wife and I grew up in the northwest Bronx, and we both spent our summers in Putnam and I fished the Res's up there with my dad a whole heck of a lot too. West Branch, Croton, the Muscoot.

Anyway, OfficeAlly seems to be more of a west coast thing than an east coast thing so check carefully if they have agreements with your carriers down there. For example our largest and most painful carrier, our local BC/BS Excellus (really a pawn for Wellpoint) was not with them and so over 50% of our claims would have had to drop to paper if we went with them. Look before you leap. Anyway, I keep thinking about dropping our present billing company and trying Altapoint at some point. They changed their website for the worse so there is a whole lot less info there then there used to be. Good luck.
Paul

I guess I should introduce myself since I am new to the User Board. I am a Family Physician in solo practice, now 11 years out of residency at Santa Rosa California. I work in Brewster, NY, about an hour and a half north of New York City. My practice is focused on Immigrant Health. About 90% of my patients are Hispanic immigrants from Guatemala and Ecuador. The children mostly have a Child Health Plus insurance, so at the end of a day, about 1/2 of my patients are self pay and pay cash at the time of the visit. For the other half, I need a new billing solution. Thanks for the input! Great to find this community.

Welcome, JayZ:

Great to know you. I'm sorry your post hasn't gotten more response so far. Users drift in and out of checking the board, and sometimes it takes a while for the right person to find and comment on your problem. For that reason, I have found it good to add to my original posts when I get new information or my thinking changes; sometimes that sparks a thought from someone else.

There has been a lot of discussion about billing solutions here in the past. You might be able to use the search function, and set the search parameters within the last year and finds some good information.

BTW, add a signature to your posts, so we can call you by name!

I am using a billing company.
I figured out it is not profitable for me to do billing in-house unless I collect $750,000+ a year, because billing person salary ($30,000/year) plus billing software/support/updates would cost me more than 4% of my collections I pay to the billing company.

Brian, I wish we could just use "bump," lol.

And, yes, please use a signature. It is so much nicer to have a name.
