Does anyone happen to know the current status of the Practice Management Program that will compliment AC? Our current supplier has left us hanging and the 5010 will be going live 1/1/2012 (from what I can see). I have been waiting almost 2 years now for this program. Each quarter I am told it will be the next quarter. Our office is up against the wall now and doing double entry just to get through. Any advise?

The only thing I can suggest is checking with your Regional Medicare provider, in our case (Florida) its First Coast. They have a list of 5010 compliant CLEARING firms, it then becomes an issue of finding someone that works with AC.

I do not have an inside track, but I as well have been waiting.
Whatever system you are using now should offer 5010 compliance, as that is the new standard.
It would appear that they will go beta early next year, but it has been a long road. I would anticipate the final product will not be "ready for prime time" until Mid next year.
Again, my opinion without any inside info.

If your current biling system is sending 4010 files, that's fine as long as you have a clearinghouse that can upgrade those 4010 files to 5010 on-the-fly like RealMed can, for example.
If you are up against the wall now, as you say, then you may wish to consider interfacing your current solutions or going with another third party biller. As Wendell has stated, and as I agree, any new PM system put out by AC most likely will not be ready for prime time until sometime summer 2012. Making a PM is as hard as making an EMR. It appears many people simply aren't aware of this.

JamesNT I investigated what it would take to write a small part of a simple invoicing system to use with the databases I wrote for our other business. I think it is probably much harder. Plus, clients on all sides tend to get really testy when it is not totally perfect. No one is liable to post "well, sometimes it gets the dates transposed, but otherwise it is a great little program, and SOOO inexpensive..."

Look at AC website as they are asking for beta testers for the new program. 7.? Can't remember where on the website it was located.
Solo practice has it's headaches but beats being an employee.

I agree, been waiting over 2 years. Never bought a robust PM system and my only regret in my practice. I hope AC is finally putting ALL of its resources in the PM system since all of these MU, CCHIT and other delays meant nothing to me!
