I would like to wish everyone a safe and happy to trip to Lake Tahoe. Please don't talk too much AC and just have fun.
PLEASE, post pictures on photo bucket or somewhere. I would like to see a picture of Leslie after one of her hikes.
Those hikes looked beautiful, though.

We will miss you this time Bert, but I have high hopes that you'll make the next meetup, once your new systems are in place that allow you to take some much needed time away.

Marty, you will be missed as well, but you have to see to the growth of your sprawling domain. You do Spring skiing?

I used to live a couple hours from Tahoe. The latest I remember skiing was in June. One year there was skiing up there until 4th of July weekend.

Well, Bert, you are out of luck....I used my old and fat card this afternoon at Emerald Bay and the hike got away. But the Coronas weren't so lucky.

We are all working SOOOOOO hard at the conference.
After lunch with Martin and Leslie, my wife and I went for a walk by the beach. It's so tough out here.

But, in order to vindicate ourselves, we were up until 11:30 local time (2:30 real world time)last night yammering about a host of issues concerning AC and medicine in general. Good time was had by all....even Indy's dogs

I owe JB an apology. I had lost some faith in his AC program because of recent slowness issues that I worried were not being addressed or even acknowledged. The conference here in Tahoe has restored my feelings that Jon remains focused on fixing the issues that many of us have had. I believe again that he has not lost his vision about having a complete and intuitive program. He has calmed my fears and I know of no other EHR (or any other business) that is committed to keeping his users federally compliant as well as passionate enough to tell others what a great program this really is. I am continually impressed by the transparency he has shown...the good and the bad of his program. And I am impressed once again that we, the users, are heard and our concerns are his concerns. So, Jon, please accept my apology. P.S. Thanks for the new Porshe

Centricity is the new name for Logician. I have been using it through one of my affiliated hospitals since 2003. It is very robust but very complex and VERRRY expensive- far too expensive for a Mom and Pop level practice.
I would not recommend it for anyone with less than stellar computer skills.
In my view, if you are an independent practitioner, AC in its latest iterations is an excellent choice.
I'm excited to be here in Tahoe with Jon Bertman, Indy and a wonderful core group of longtime users who have valuable insight and experience. I am learning a ton and am excited about the next updates.
AC is truly a team effort and it really shows.

It has been very educational being here. I have learned quite a number of useful things. Jon initially was not going to come but felt that he needed to interact with the users more to get both feedback and let us know what was happening.
It appears that a new build may have solved the speed issues. We demoed it and it may be released very soon. It requires some final testing before release.
For Bert, Jon also stated they would soon be releasing a Star TSP printer driver as well.

Finally, I'm here at Zephyr Cove. It was a long drive from Berkeley!
Is there a plan for tomorrow, Saturday 10/29?

In my view, if you are an independent practitioner, AC in its latest iterations is an excellent choice. Sue, thanks for the information on Centricity. I hope you don't find this condescending, but I joked about Centricity for a reason. Centricity used to be Logician, and should have never changed their name. It would be like Apple changing to Grape. Logician had incredible name recognition. Centricity/Logician (it has been long enough to just refer to them as Centricity) is, in my opinion, and in the opinion of many others, the worst EMR ever devised. Its main goal, it seems, is to take a visit such as conjunctivitis and crank out a four to five page note. Unfortunately, it is used here by any entity associated with Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems, which means the hospital, ED, Walk-in care, the residency program, etc. If you have someone trans to your practice who is relatively healthy and two years old, the average record will be about 200 pages vs 40 pages with AC. Its main function is to document with the drill down process every single part of the note so as to not get audited. I am going to ask Adam Lauer to comment on it, not that anyone needs to read about it. It just shows how AC is a much better program. I would disagree that you need better computer skills to use it. You simply need more time to process the learning curve. On another note, between hikes, talks, camp fires and happy birthdays, ask JBS to reference its MU mistake. I am following our trip out there and promise to be at the next one, if and only if, it is held nearly Zion or The Grand Tetons or Bryce. And, if AC would provide all solo practioners, especially pediatrics with a FNP or PA, that would be very helpful.

Bert,
You have to start training your patients and put your mobile skills to use. You can do it without a PA/NP. This has been a great conference. I now understand (although still hate) MU thanks to Sue, Wendell and JBS.

And, are there any users in the Zion/Bryce area we can get to host the next one?

I will make it.
But, I will not take away one second of my patients' time by checking off one pack a day for a four year old.
Please everyone see Private Message. I am freaking out here. Don't worry Jon B. I got your back.

Tahoe was fantastic! I am always amazed at these gatherings how much we have in common. Online acquaintances quickly became personal friends. Once again, the magnificent scenery took a back seat to the magnificent discussions....not only about AC but about medicine in general, building retaining walls with inadequate footings, kids and La Cross, kids and tutus and wine and wine and wine! The dogs were great too, minus the one scuffle over a Kosher hot dog or something I cannot wait for the next one and I have begun some research for a possible next location. Thanks to all of you for your assistance, kindness, understanding, laughs and apple crumb cake! Thanks to Indy and Lori for their hard work and making the conference in Tahoe a reality. Thanks to Jon Bertman for taking his time to come and enlighten us on things to come with our beloved AC. Thanks to this Board.

I didn't know Jon Bertman was going to Tahoe. I couldn't think of a better group of people for him to sit down with and hear about all the issues with AC. Let's hope the fixes are coming soon!
Sorry I couldn't make it but hope to make the next meeting!
