Does anyone know when this is coming out? It states November 2010 on the website, and its almost the end of November.

The iPhone app is tied to the rollout of version 5.1, which also seems a bit delayed. As you said, November is still around a few more days.

I was told the delay is on the part of apple, since they(apple) have a slow(rigorous) app approval process.

that would make sense as apple has to approve any and all iphone apps.

Does the app link to the server at the office, or is it stand alone?

any word of an iPad app? I got my first chance to play with one over the holidays. its really NOT A COMPUTER. Well, technically maybe it is, but you know what i mean. But you could probably have a good AC app for it.

I played with the app at a conference - it is not amazing charts - it is only an app for when you are on call so you can bring up limited information on your patient - meds, etc and make yourself a note to then sync with your server when you get back. If you want to be able to actually have AC on your ipad then I suggest you get something like Logmein Ignition ($35.00) and you can actually do anything you would do in the office.

When you log in with Logmein on the iPad from home, how fast is it? Say between 1 and 5 , with five being speed you get at the office wired network?Steve

I'd give it a 3, but it is a little cumbersome to use the virtual mouse for me.... I have fat fingers.

Thanks

I give it a 5 once you get rolling... I bought a couple of cheap stylus off of e bay and it really helps.. you still have to use the virtual mouse but it makes pointing and clicking a lot easier!

The Quest Care 360 app on the iphone and ipad is terrific. I subscribe to the e-prescribe feature which is really great. Maybe the Amazing Charts app would eventually have an eprescribe feature.

I completely agree. Care360 is really an extremely well thought out program set for reviewing labs and eRx. I showed Jon their iPhone app at the users meeting. I have been exporing a free trial to their full EMR and while the program has some issues, from a mobile app standpoint I really wouldn't change a thing. Nothing like being able to renew meds or review labs while sitting on the beach with the family. Sure, you can always just call, but this is way faster and waaay cooler.

I purchased the On-Call App for the iPhone. Here's what one can expect:
1. The sync is very simple and takes about 5 to 10 minutes.

2. On the app, you are able to access the patient's demographics where you can see DOB, age, home phone, cell phone, pharmacy (just the pharmacy name and store number - not the telephone number or address), and patient's address.

**Suggested updates - Allow dialing directly from the app when pressing on the patient's phone numbers.
**Link the pharmacy to the iphone maps so that when you press the pharmacy, it links to the maps app.

3. All of the past encounters are able to be viewed directly from the phone.

4. Problem lists can be viewed.

5. Medication history

6. Allergies

I think it's a great start and worth the $25 for me. Add the ability to e-prescribe from this app and it will be simply outstanding.

I don't fully understand the place for the on-call app. What advantage does it have over LogMeIN? It seems OnCall gives you information that was current as of the last time you did a sych, but LogMeIn gives you information in real time. If you really are using it for after hours stuff, it seems you really want to know what meds your partner started the patient on this afternoon, not what they were taking as of yesterday when you last did a synch. Incomplete or erroneous information is much more dangerous than no information. What am I missing here?

The on call app is good for people who have an IPod Touch or IPAD without data plan or where data plan is sketchy - the other thing is that even though I have logmein I find it difficult to use my Iphone (IPAD is great) and sometimes just having the basic chart would be handy. It would be best if you synched every day (probably unrealistic), just another option for people. That being said I was too cheap to download as I already have logmein.

I think I see from Bert's post on Droids running AC that it is not out yet. Sorry I didn't research before asking.

Perhaps I don't understand but LogMeIn "Ignition" app for droid X, Incredible etc is indeed available. I'm not sure how this varies from a true AC app but for $29 the LogMeIn Ignition droid app lets me log onto my office computer, bring up AC or whatever and use it to ePrescribe, check charts, sign Updox stuff etc. I'm not sure how some app can run more seamlessly with AC, perhaps someone can elucidate. To state the obvious, the best way to view AC or I assume any EMR is in person on a big LCD, second best way at home using LogMeIm and viewing on your big LCD at home (albeit switching form window to window is a tad slower that the "real thing") and third best is using your droid based phone and LogMeIn Ignition. Let's face it, on your phone you're looking through a keyhole while when sitting at a computer you've opened the door. Nonetheless it's great for special circumstances, IMHO see: https://secure.logmein.com/welcome/android/ Bob

I had the same question I asked above. I think the reply was the ac app is a convenient snapshot of where you were when you synched last if your mobile lacks connectivity; otherwise logmein shows real time data. Mostly what I don't get is why spend effort developing a marginally useful thing instead of making a better letter writer or a more useful tool.

Reviving this thread: I'm finally going to step up from my motorola razr (!) to the iphone 4S. How much memory would be required to store the data for the oncall app?

Reviving this thread: How much memory would be required to store the data for the oncall app?An insignificant amount of RAM for the app to stay on the iPhone (2.3 MB). Cost is $24.99 though.

That is only the application runtime memory -- you are correct. The patient data will occupy storage memory. The database that AC loads on your iPhone depends on the size of your patient data. After loading the AC app and syncing my phone, the free storage decreased by .24 GB, for about 2 years of patients. I don't know how accurate this is.

I ordered my iPhone 4s also. I'm using the 3GS-16GB right now and the AC app runs very well. I haven't noticed any significant amount of memory usage with the AC app. I really don't think it's an issue.
One complaint with the AC app: When I use it to look up a patient's phone number, it would be so nice to simply touch the phone number within the AC app to dial the number, rather than memorizing the number (or jotting it down). As of now, you have to close the AC app, then physically dial the number (somewhat of a PITA.)

Thanks for all this advice. I did get the 4S yesterday. iPhones are completely new to me. Do any users report any issues syncing the same iPhone to itunes on both a home computer (i.e for music) and an office computer to update patient records?

The sync for AC is not performed through ITunes. Best not to try to do an itunes sync with more than one computer. I sync my iPhone with itunes on my home computer. I sync AC app at work - it syncs with AC over the wireless network at work.

Yes, it shows up in the app store, but when you click on install, it then says "item you are trying to buy is no longer available"... I sent an email to techsupport last night to see what they say

A neat feature with the iPhone 4S and the AC On Call App is that you are now able to dictate notes/messages.
