When a fax comes in, which comes into my paperport inbox, how are we supposed to officially sign it? Can I just sign duplicate into a pdf, import into chart and thats it?
Or do I have to mark with a signature using paperport pencil and then import the pdf into the chart? Thanks

There are a couple of ways to do this.
You can create a signature stamp in paperport, or it is signed off when you import it in to AC if a lower level person imports it.
If it is imported by you, it is assumed to be read by you.
I personally do not sign off, but I also pull down all the faxes myself. (My faxes come to my AT&T imbox)

Paperport has a stamp feature...look for the little icon. Create a signature, say using Paint, and then right click on the stamp icon (after you bring up the desired fax) and it will ask you to pick the file where your stamp is saved. Click it once and then after that, each time you left click the stamp icon, it should already know to go to that file

My staff imports, then I sign it off on AC. Clicking this shows when you signed it off with a date and time stamp.

boondoc : I want to train my staff to do it that way. Saves a lot of time. But lets say attorney or medical board gets the records. They won't see any signature on it. Will there be a stamp on the record? Will there be any trouble if they don't see any signature on the fax?

The process: canned documents come into a folder as .pdf files, faxes come in as .tiff from the multifunction copier machine. The staff clicks on these and converts to a PDF. Then they drag and drop them onto the Imported Items of the chart. These then go to my box as they have to have a provider sign off to become part of the permanent chart. I just see them in my box waiting for review on AC. When I click 'sign off', it is stamped by AC. The Stamp: go to Imported Items and you can click Print Comments: which shows when you signed it off, who imported it, etc. Everything a lawyer could want!

boondoc: what happens in this case. Fax comes in as tiff. I hit duplicate as pdf file and rename fax. I import into patients chart. Will it have me signing off in the print comments section?
