There are some questions that need answered:
1. Is the main installation of the AC on the notebook or do you have another "main" computer that the AC runs on? For example do you have server client set up where the main database resides on a main computer and you have other computers that point to it?
2. What version of AC are you using?
3. If you have a "Server" where the AC database in located, do you need to sync the information on the notebook back to main database? This is a critical question to answer because the approaches are different for transfering the main installation to another computer verses syncing the off site material with the main computer.
4. Do you want to still use both notebooks?
If you are not 100% comfortable doing this on your own and you have the AC tech support option you should contact them for help. This particular problem is why people purchase tech support contracts and they really are the experts at answering this question. There are plenty on people on the forum who are experts with this problem and will offer advice and direction. Certainly the forum members are more than happy to help answer your question (or any additional questions).

1. Install AC on new notebook 2. Delete AC folder on C:\Program Files after install on new notebook. (assuming you installed to default directory) 3. Copy and paste AC folder from old notebook to C:\Program Files on new notebook. (same assumption)
Done

No, you cannot move SQL like that.
What you want to do is quite simple.
-- Grab an installer and database tuner of the version you are going to move along with a newly made backup of the old computer. The .enc file. -- Put this on the machine you want to move to. -- DISCONNECT THE ETHERNET CABLE FROM THAT COMPUTER. VERY IMPORTANT. -- Install that version on the new computer. -- Probably not important, but do the bare mininum to run it, e.g. enter demographics of your practice. -- Restore the backup to AC on the new computer. -- It will likely ask you for the database tuner. Never can tell. -- Restart AC. It may take several attempts with right-clicking and running as administrator, but it will eventually work. -- Reconnect the Ethernet cable. -- Make sure the old computer cannot be used as a database. All you would need to do would be to name AmazingCharts.mdf to AmazingCharts.old.

Thanks Bert. I did all of the above. Now I'm stuck at "amazing charts can't write to your main folder at \\GREG-PC\Amazing Charts\ when I try to run amazing charts on one of the networked PCs. Looks like I have a firewall problem. new computer (where database now resides after restore) is Windows 7 with Norton antivirus. It appears I've got everything disabled in Norton, but still can't get to database from other computers. I have the amazing charts folder on the main PC set for sharing with everyone with full controls. The windows firewall is disabled and/or being controlled by the Norton software. Any ideas? if not I'll call tech support on Monday. Good news is that AC is up and running on the new main computer! just need to get access for others PCs. Thanks, Greg Mosolf

Congrats. Rebooting likely won't help. Normally, I would call this a firewall problem, but...you seem to be getting to the folder, and the "cop" guy isn't coming on. Do these things:
First, put a folder just under AC and put a text file in it. Call it Test Firewall. Given it full permissions. Then see if you can browse to that folder, open the text file, tead whatever is inside it, change the text inside it, then close the folder. If you can do that, you have read/write permissions to a folder on the same drive as AC. So, now it is likely the port issue with 61067.
Turn off the firewall completely. Sounds like you have already done that. If it works, you need to make an exception for AC or Port 61067. If other computers can get to it, then it isn't likely that.
OK, and this is the important thing:
If you have, ESET, Trend Micro, Avast, MBAM, AVG etc., keep them. If you have either McAfee or Symantec, delete it completely off your computer. Don't just turn them off. Completely delete them. Symantec can be tricky. You will want to Google Symantec/Norton antivirus removal. Your best bet is a registry removal, but a good removal program will work as well. Don't just uninstall from Add/Remove programs.
If your Symantec is an antiviral suite, you can bet everything that it is the problem.

This is getting interesting. I have two users on my "old" computer. one is called "group" one is caled "DRMO". when I change users/log in as "group" I can browse to the the folder I created on the new computer. I can open the test file called "test firewall". I can make changes, but I can't save them. it says "cannot creat the test firewall.txt file. check path and filename" (something like that). The really odd thing is if I change users to "DRMO" and try to access the new folder on the new PC it says I can't access it, I can't even view the firewall test. txt file. It says "ann test" is available, but the user account that you are logged on with was denied access. ("ann test" is the folder I created below the amazing charts folder on the new "main" computer to test sharing) It seems like a permissions or sharing issue with windows 7 to me, but I'm no expert. I can always go back to using the old "main" computer until we work it out. all I have to do is change the name of the amazing charts MDF file (delete old) and point the networked PCs at it right? Thanks for your help on a weekend. Don't feel any urgency to respond. Like I said I can always go back until we figure this out. Thanks Greg Mosolf

Let me log in and take a look. Can you open a browser on the "new" computer?
