I know it is in beta, and normally it would be wrong to ask, but given the ongoing level of uncertainty....has anyone using V6.1 found any NEW issues as compared to earlier versions? I am not really asking if it has solved problems, only if it has created any new ones.

Yes, there is this one little problem where you can't save the note. The beta testers have reported this small bug, but word is it will be released anyway and then fixed in v6.11.

Yes, in reference to the prescription writer and Star Printer debacle.

To quote a famous line, "I speak fluent sarcasm". Bert "I never lost a note" Adams is sort of on a sarcastic bender tonight. I think it is the high that follows the news that the bat isn't rabid.
Now when Steven says "no bugs", that is a different story.

I guess you should know that I do think Version 6 is slower on things like erx, but I have used many beta versions with bugs and AC has fixed each bug as we found them. Now I never have dealt with issues like the TSP printer.
I have just finished meeting the MU requirements and all in all am doing fine with Version 6. I don't like some things, but I like that it is still the core program that I have been using for almost 10 years.

Bert, my tolerance for pain is not as great as it was when I was younger. So, MU dollars aside, is 6.09 worth it?

Overall, I think it is. I am not going for the MU dollars. I guess the issue is making sure you play with it first to see how the prescription writer works. That's the big bug.

Seriously,
Are there any bugs or problems in V6.* that are deal breakers as far as upgrading AC? Is speed going to be a problem for most users using 2 to 3 GHz P4 processor with 4-8 Gigs of memory running Windows XT or XT pro ? Is the electronic prescription writer working adequately ?
I'm just a little nevous about upgrading from stable, working V5.*-should I even consider upgrading--what are the benefits ?

First, don't get too caught up with your processor, etc. From what some have said Hardware Acceleration can help a lot by being turned off, although it does serve a purpose. Just from being stubborn, one shouldn't have to upgrade their hardware to upgrade to a new version.
Two biggest problems with v6. The prescription writer can be rather slow. It has been my experience that I have only a 3 to 10 second delay and mostly more toward the 3. I have also found the wait to be rather consistent.
The other is the TSP800. Pathetic. But, if you don't use that printer, then it won't affect you.
As far as advantages, there is, of course, MU. Your refills come directly to the program rather than SureScripts. You have better feedback about where your scripts went and if they were successful. There is a whole list on AC's website. That is all I can think of.
I know that "sandbox" is a relatively new term and it has become part of the lexicon on the board. I have used Virtual Machines and sandboxes for years. But, with AC my use of them has increased exponentially. I really think it would be good for anyone considering v6 to have a computer that is similar to your other computers off the network. You can even take a computer off the network and install v6 on it over the weekend as a "main computer." If you import your data, you will be able to prescribe. Try it out. Then you will know for sure.
