So this week we started importing labs from Labcorp into AC. Working quite well so far, as long as the name exactly matches. They also set me up with a demographics "bridge", but I'm not sure what that is suppose to accomplish. My question is, how do I go about ordering labs in AC and send them to Labcorp? We have a phlebotomist in our office, but somehow we need to send him the request, and I'd prefer to do this through AC. That way we can track the orders and make sure all results are received. There have been times we haven't gotten back all lab results which were ordered. Any help is appreciated.

David,
Sadly tracking labs in AC doesn't work. There are various systems people use out there to track labs.
I print my orders via AC to a wireless printer located in our draw station. Labcorp should accept the order requisition from AC as it has all the demographic info, diagnosis etc.

The Lab interface is uni-directional..AC will not send lab orders to Labcorp (or Quest or anyone else). It will receive the lab results electronically. Once or twice a day, you (or your designee) should go to File->Import/Export->Lab results and it will import the labs.
The demographic bridge is so that on the Labcorp system, you can input the PID (chart number in AC) and the system will take the patients demographics directly from AC instead of someone typing them in. Saves some input time, and prevents alot of errors.

We have a labcorp printer, and labcorp paper, where all labcorp labs eventually print (as do the lab orders as we input them). So as labs are drawn, the paper orders sit and wait for labs to result (also on paper thanks to Labcorp autoprint client) at the labcorp printer. The results are matched with the requisition, made sure everything resulted, AND checked to make sure it imported into amazing charts (surprisingly - we have caught over 20 in the last month that did not). Then the paper is shredded. Any req unmatched to results in over a week - prompts an audit.

The Labcorp interface is working great, but now that I'm trying to get some meaningful use $$$, why aren't my labs being recognized by AC? I do not order them in AC, but they are codified. My diabetic patients with HgA1C all say 0 as numerator for both controlled and uncontrolled HgA1C. Can someone please help??? Thanks.

FYI, I was told by AC that the new update 6.3 will likely fix this issue.
