I wish we could independently update the past medical, family and social hsitory, allergy list-- similar to medication list as--
--this happens quite frequently. For Eg: if pt got admitted to hospital and had an event- you get a fax or even a phone call by consultant- you want to update your records- with current setup you have to wait till the patient comes to your office, then go over the past history and update, sign and the progress note and then only it will be saved---
--it would be nice to have the ability to update this independant of office visit, it will make things a lot smoother--
--this I believe has been recommended multiple times in past - but still we are waiting--
any opinions??

Can't you currently make those changes, sign the chart that you made them, but decline to generate a superbill? I think this is what you are trying to do. And I think you can already do that.

Oh, certainly you can do that, but that is a tedious way of changing the record- you create a not with heading- in chief complaint- updating record-when you search for things down the line- you will have a lot more items to wade through.
It can be simpler as suggested.

I agree completely with your wish. I would also like to be able to edit the medications as well without having to generate a signed "encounter". It makes it so much harder finding the encounters you really want to look at. The entries could still somehow be signed by the person entering the new info so that an audit trail could be followed but in some way not saved into the encounter folder.

""able to edit the medications as well without having to generate a signed "encounter"".
Medications are updatable without signing the encounter sheet. Go to patient, pull the medications and you can change that. Or if the staff sends an email for refill auth, click the box next to email and you can refill/change dose/delete/inactivate and hence updatable without encounter.
Regards.

Thanks, Joseph. I had never tried to edit the patient's meds just from the initial screen...only from the encounter screen. That works well and I appreciate the tip!

It would be nice to have all of these items on the Summary Sheet. The medications are currently there and can be edited there.
