Hello, scanned posts and didn't see this one exactly, so sorry if a repeat.
On the refills screen, I have been getting a lot of refill requests for patients that aren't mine but another physician with a very similar name. I deny these, and add in the comments section "Wrong doctor" or something similar. Sadly, for whatever reason, it takes 1-3 seconds for EACH letter typed to appear after I type it. For example, "Wrong doctor" goes like "W.......R.......o...........n....." and as I am waiting for the keyboard buffer to catch up to me, there's another patient checked in and waiting for me
Anything I am doing wrong?
Also I am getting a lot of controlled refill requests, so I try to put a comment on that too.
Thanks

Well, it is happening in the same place, so it would seem like a problem related to the software and, specifically, the comment section, but....
What OS are you using? Laptop or Desktop? Are you using the latest video card drivers? Have you gone to Control Panel -> Keyboard and looked at the settings?

Quick fix. Dont use comment section. If not your pt just hit no match and it will deny. If your pt and not your scrip match pt and hit no match on med. Move on and dont worry about it.

This happens on both my laptop and desktop, but worse on laptop. The laptop is the more robust computer, don't have the stats right now but it's Windows 7, about 6 mos old, and haven't checked for driver updates. Desktop is Vista. Ironically enough, the desktop is faster but it is a direct ethernet connection and the laptop is of course wireless. I suspect that has something to do with it.
When you type in the comments, it seems to redraw the whole screen with each keypress, I suspect rescanning for interactions etc, or doing some kind of unnecessary work. I hate to turn interaction checking off, as I really want to meet MU criteria.
I would like to use comment section so the pharmacies can tell why I denied the refills, rather than them angering patients telling them "well, your doctor denied your refill, we have no idea why" when it's sent to the wrong place or it's a controlled that never should have been sent electronically.

1. You don't have to turn interactions off permanently. Just for troubleshooting. Turn them off. Problem goes away and Steven is correct.
2. Weird idea, but take the battery out of the laptop and run it straight on electricty. See if that fixes it.
3. Definitely need to make sure you have the newest drivers.
4. Anytime you use wireless, be ready for the consequences.
5. After doing the battery thing, then plug it with Ethernet into switch. You can't plug it directly into the main computer without either, switch, hub (wouldn't use that) or using a crossover cable.
Try those things and get back to us.

I was very unhappy with the speed. The screen seemed to be redrawn one line at a time. I changed lowered my screen resolution to 1280 x 960 and it improved the speed a lot
