I started amazing charts this am from an exam room computer and it couldn't find the database. (Running Win XP and Windows 7 peer to peer ). Apparently there have been a lot of Windows Updates this week and they are wrecking havoc. People are complaining a lot on twitter.

Anyway, problem was solved by rebooting the router and restarting the machines. Just thought I would post this here. If you are having trouble try this before calling amazing charts support.

I had a similar problem with Windows Update that messed up my Sharepoint and backups. Turned out being the SharePoint service pack which messed permissions for the SPFarm account. Which messed up Volume Snapshot Service because it was constantly in use, which messed up my backups. My backups are working great and offsite as well.

Go figure. I have windows 7 professional and installed a simple HP networkable printer HP 2035n a workhorse inexpensive business printer and took my IT guy 2-3 hourse to figure out how to get the thing to print. My windows computer should have been plug and play and it is not! When is apple going to take over?

Apple already has. They passed Microsoft in market cap last year. But its hard to overcome 25 years of Windows dominance. Maybe one day AC will run on anything, even my wristwatch. For now I'll use Windows, if they could just squash the bugs!

Companies like HP tend to have their own drivers for their printers instead of universal ones due to all the functions they add. Usually, the manual says in big letters, RUN THE CD FIRST or install drivers or something similar. Especially with network printers as they don't store the driver on the printer. The only time it took me that long to install a printer was when the printer was incompatible with the OS, but I found a workaround. (I knew that it was going in.)

Sandeep,
A side note...
Couldn't help noticing your last name.
Are you any relationship to Charu Luthra in Quebec? She is one of our employees.

I don't think so. But I'll ask my dad.

Looks like your permissions were messed up as well. Check out this link for the resolution:

Thank you for your help. I checked the link and believe you are correct. The repair is complicated but doable. I'll first try another window's update like solodocmom and pray for a repair.

Ha, it looks like I'm in the same boat. My entire remote web workplace has stopped working. Exchange is messed up along with everything. If I ever get this fixed. I'm never going to update again.

Situation is much worse than I imagined. My Exchange is completely messed up. No access to email or anything. I'm beyond mad. I have to fix this before work on Monday.

Going to try the a restore from the backups. At least Amazing Charts is in tact.

Got lucky. Thank god I fixed the backup issue last week. Managed to do a bare metal restore to Friday at 11 PM. All is back to normal.
