Is it just us,or is the Orders process all but unusable? We generally appreciate AC's preference for simplicity. But we are spending a fortune in staff time dealing with orders. (As an indepenent nurse practitioner office with an insane State Board, we can't just "order and forget" but are expected to follow the patient to insure labs are completed.) After over 2 years, the orders process is the only thing that has ever made us consider moving from AC.

1. Why can't you bring up an order from a patient's chart, or otherwise see only one patient's pending orders?? (Yes,the Orders screen has a field marked "Show This Patient" but it has apparently never worked.)

2. The system is overall miserably slow to use - - you can't search by name, you just have to scroll!! And if you reconcile one order, the screen refreshes so you have to scroll all the way down again.

3. The sorting defaults to putting newest orders first. Wouldn't it make sense that you would be more likely to be reconciling older orders as opposed to newer ones. Or at least don't reset the sorting every time you update an order!

4. Why can't you "reconcile" an order when you review the results? Or even just reconcile/mark "complete" from the patient's chart?

5. The net result is a mind numbingly tedious, frustrating, time consuming process.

6. And as a bonus...in V6 in the Orders window, everytime you try to mark more than one order complete or reconcile it, etc., it now crashes AC with a Run Time Error. (We were told by AC that was because we had too many orders pending...in a one provider office??)

So...someone please tell me we are doing it wrong, and there is an easier way...

no, it's not just you. We haven't found a way to even half-way conveniently reconcile them. I don't know if they even think they finished it. I can't even reconcile a custom order of a referral...it won't bring up the imported referral consultations in the screen.
