I'm having an issue when I want to use an old note to copy/use for a new note, the social history gets erased. Am I doing something wrong, or do I have to write this in every visit?
Also, when I prescribe a non-continuing med (like an antibiotic), it gets added to the current drug list, then I have to go inactivate it. Again, what am I doing wrong?
Thanks for any help. Otherwise I'm loving AC!

As for prescribing non-continuing medications, what version of AC are you using? I know this was an issue when I was using 5.029. I don't seem to have that issue in V6.09

I am using the latest Beta. Should I enter the med from the edit/refill button on the summary sheet, or is there another way I should do it?
The social history disappearing in my next note is really the thing that bugs me the most. There must be a way of saving this info for the next note.
Thanks.

I just realized, the social history stays the same with the next note, unless you change the smoking status in the green box. If you do this, in the next note you only get smoking status per green box, and not the rest of the social history (do you drink, use drugs, work, married/partnered?) Is this a bug? It makes me not want to use green box, but this is required for meaningful use?

I wish as well there was a way to have short term medications like antibiotics not show after a certain amount of time. I had used Allscripts in the past and there was a stop-date option when prescribing the medication. You could just put a day later or a 2 weeks later and it would drop off the list. The same way for ICD codes so that 'acute upper respiratory infection' does not show up on the summary page every time without having to delete it. That would be very helpful and maybe I'm missing something with Amazing Charts on how to do this.

Dr Lee,
If I understand you correctly, you change the smoking status of a patient the next office visit and your text you previously entered regarding "do you drink" etc disappears?
AC doesn't delete a medication from the medication list if it was prescribed for only 7 days. It stays listed and you have to check the box the patient is no longer on the med and why. I think maybe I misunderstood your question initially. That would be a good feature and something to suggest via the HELP button then click RECOMMEND IMPROVEMENTS
I know in V5.029 if you were writing for a new script, it would show up on the current medication list if you double clicked in the current medications box.

Even if I don't change the smoking status, all the rest of the social history disappears when the nurse forwards me the chart, even though the rest of the note is the same.

That would be a definite bug. I have checked mine, and the green box just adds the smoking line to the social history. The rest of my social history continues forward. If it were erased, I would have to cut and past it to keep it as I value having it there. So I don't know what I am doing correctly to keep it?

Re: the social history gets erased I believe this is a bug. It was first brought up at our last users' group meeting, but couldn't be consistently be reproduced. Now I think I understand the problem better. (Gino, you aren't crazy ). The problem occurs when you select the smoking status from the green box first. What is typed on the same line after this gets deleted and is not saved. Select "Current Every Day Smoker", and then type "xxxxx" on the same line. It prints: Tobacco: Current every day smoker (0 ppd x 0 yrs = 0 pk yrs)xxxxx But what is SAVED (save the chart and reopen it to see this) is Tobacco: Current every day smoker (0 ppd x 0 yrs = 0 pk yrs) If you type the xxxxx on the next line, it will show: Tobacco: Current every day smoker (0 ppd x 0 yrs = 0 pk yrs) xxxxx But when SAVED, it deletes the end of the first line and you get this in the saved chart: Tobacco: Current every day smoker (0 ppd x 0 yrs = 0 pk yrs)xxxx The work-around solution to this: always put in text first and THEN choose smoking status from the green box. OR, if you choose the smoking status first, hit enter twice after it, then type your text and is should appear appropriately. I think.

Great. That helps a lot. Hopefully they can fix it if it truly is a bug. There is another forum to report this? Thanks for everyone's help.

This bug in 6.09 was supposed to be fixed in 6.10. Can 6.10 beta users tell us if it has been fixed?
