What are the best way(s) to get patient related faxes into the import section of AC. Presently we are using windows fax server to dump them into a folder. Then we have to browse to that folder from the import section of AC get the fax into the chart which seems like a fairly labor intensive process. Ideally, I would like to be able to comment, stamp, and doodle on the fax before it gets filed (like I did in the paper world). I've also been having some problems with the quality of the incoming fax images in Windows Fax server with some of the lines being squench together (intermittently). How are other people dealing with these issues?

Ron,
If you simply scan the fax in as an imported item,( or import it as John suggests above) then it can be labeled ( mammogram, chemistry panel , or whatever) and you can "doodle on it" in the comment section of the sign off. On top of that, it times and dates your sign-off for you. You can send an order to your staff ( for follow up or additional testing), you have the patient's phone number displayed to you on that page and can call them without looking up their number...
To send an order minimize the imported item, select the patient's chart, hit the reply button and send an order, write a prescription...You can create templated comments in the reply section and then paste them into the sign off box or you can template the comments in the sign off box.
Really, much better than the old fax attached to the patient's chart.
No comment about the legibility of the fax, that is outside of AC.

UpDox allows you to do all of this and much more for a very reasonable price.
