When we want the patient to take an over the counter med, we actually write them a prescription. This documents it in the chart, and provides instructions. We simply put OTC in the Dispense # and Refills and print it on regular paper.

Some of the AC applications in the prescription writer won't work if ANY of the presciptions listed are like this. So, if you prescibed lipitor, and also did zantac otc, and wanted to check the formulary on the lipitor, it won't let you. Any workarounds besides the most obvious?

I use dispense 0, refills 0.
