I just upgraded the Mac client on the remote machine. When trying to print at the remote Windows 7 computer to a printer on the remote network, I'm suddenly getting the error "8542; the report width is greater than the paper width". This prints fine if done locally. What setting needs adjusting?

I am not sure how LogMeIn sets this up, but just from your initial description, that error almost always results from the default printer being a different printer than you want. Once that doesn't accept 8 1/2 by 11 paper.
Just an idea.

Things to check: - The local computer hosting the printer must be running LogMeIn Pro2, not the free version. - Remote printing from a Mac only works when the Mac browser is Firefox. - Also, you may have to manually switch the remote Mac to use the Java mode, and you have to have Java installed on the local computer hosting the printer.

John, Please amplify how this applies if the local computer (the one with AC on it that I'm controlling) is windows, and I'm trying to print to a network printer from that windows machine.

It sounds to me, if I understand the problem correctly, that you are printing to a network computer from the local computer that is hosting AC. There should be absolutely no difference doing it when sitting at that local computer or when controlling it via logmein...
Unless the computer you are controlling it from is also on the network and you are now trying to print on that same networked printer but from your remote access computer, not from the AC computer. If that is the case, and assuming the printer you are trying to print to is called "myprinter", you would have chosen "myprinter via logmein" when printing. That's not what you want, you want to choose the printer "myprinter", not "myprinter via logmein".
Again, that is assuming both computers are on the same network.

I agree with Michael, you have to send the print job using the printer set up on the local PC, not the "via logmein" printer. John, Please amplify how this applies if the local computer (the one with AC on it that I'm controlling) is windows, and I'm trying to print to a network printer from that windows machine. The Mac that you are using as the remote needs to be using Firefox 3 (Firefox 4 only has a beta plugin), not Safari or Chrome. This is because Firefox uses the Java-based LogMeIn Remote Control protocol, which is the only mode that supports printing using LogMeIn on remote Macs. The target or local PC must have LogMeIn Pro2 (not free), and has to also be set to the Java mode. To switch to this mode on the target PC, go to Preferences > Remote Control settings, and switch Default Remote Control from ActiveX to Java. As an extra benefit, the Java mode is a bit faster in low bandwidth, in my experience. The above setup is from memory; I haven't actually used the remote printing from Mac to PC via LogMeIn for over a year, since I began using Hamachi. I'll try this from my home Mac to my office PC later this weekend and see if I can reproduce your issue.

I get somewhat confused with the terms, so let me be sure I am stating this clearly.
The computer at work with AC running Win 7. I am at home on the Mac. The Mac is running Firefox 3.
I log in to LogMeIn, and start remote controlling the work computer. I download labs from Quest. I select a lab and click "pull labs". The lab result opens properly.
I then click the "print lab" button at the bottom of the screen, and get the error. I Only get the error when remote controlling from home. It works fine if I am physically at my desk. It also works fine if I use Timbuktu and remote into my office Mac which is running Windows and AC under Fusion. No printer has yet been selected (the error occurs before that point). The default printer on the machine at work is a network printer. I am not trying to print to the remote network; I just want a printout waiting for me on the printer at work on Monday morning.
The whole system was working until I did the LogMeIn plugin upgrade. I had had similar problems some time back, and they somehow magically fixed themselves. I have no idea why.
John, where and on which computer are the Preferences->remote control settings to be found? I do not see the Java/ActiveX options in the preferences of the logmein screen shown on the home computer.

David, you are correct, the Java mode is only available on the work PC running LogMeIn Pro2, not the Mac running Firefox. It appears to me you are doing all correctly. I am going to try to duplicate your setup, will post back.

David,
I have tried several times, and I am able to use a Mac from my home to print on the network printer in my office while controlling a Win 7 PC running LogMeIn Pro2.
I wonder if it has to do with the Mac sending the right print commands to the helper program displaying the labs from within AC. What are you using to display the labs? I am using Adobe Reader X (I had problems with Adobe Reader 8 & 9).

The labs import as HL-7 files from quest, and display normally when I hit "pull lab." It is at the point where I click the "print labs" button, and the lab normally changes its display from HL-7 to a full printed page that I get the error, and I think that is still an AC function.

Are you able to print a "non-lab" document from AC using the remote Mac?
