Hello all
I am writing to get everyone's opinions and input regarding an idea I've been toying with for a while: a site for professional social networking, similar to LinkedIn but with a medical flavor. Some of the features I have in mind (that I feel are lacking in the sites currently available) include:

- A directory for docs to post their particular areas of expertise within their specialty. For example, I'm a gastroenterologist, but sometimes I need to refer to another GI or surgeon for, say, double-balloon enterosocopy for small bowel AVMs, or a gastric pacemaker for gastroparesis.

- A way for docs to post their availability for jobs- basically a way for jobs to come to you instead of going to job ads or recruiters.

- Build a network of colleagues that you can message or consult, grouped by specialty, location, etc. Think Facebook for work.

- A secure doctor-to-doctor messaging platform in case patient info need to be discussed.

Let me know if you think I might be on to something, or if this offers nothing new. If you use any of the existing medical social networking sites, let me know what you like or dislike about them. I realize Doximity offers a lot of those features, but I feel there's room for improvement.

Thanks

Agree with NY, Sermo has been around for several years and provides quite a bit of service.
