Alright, I will admit it - I tell my patients to keep track of their own orders - they can call me if they haven't heard their results in a week or two. If they don't hear from us the results are missing and their nose will fall right off their face if they don't call us.
But, reconciliation is a nice thing that lawyers would approve of, therefore it must be as easy as possible. So when I am signing off on labs, I would like the screen to present the outstanding orders and referrals for that patient, so I can pick one that matches the lab or result that I am signing off, if appropriate. Doesn't that make alot of sense? Tell me you agree so that this has some remote chance of happening.

Kevin,

I am like you. I put the responsibility of following up on reports on the patients and I document I told them that in the chart. I really am not happy with the orders module as are many others. My sense though in talking with Jon is that the orders section will be modified.

Unfortunately, like the hot cup of coffee at McDonald's, I have been informed that in Florida it is my responsibility to track orders that I generate.

If the patient fails to show up at a referral, we notified.

If I generate a lab or referral, but it doesn't get done (whatever the reason) its my responsibility.
Order reconciliation is something we will be looking at closely this week.

My favorite topic. It sure would be nice to have outstanding orders pop up when we are signing off on results. There is a drop down item in the importing section for lab reconciliation but it doesn't work. There is no easy way to do this at present but I'd sure like this to get taken care of as well.

I've been doing it the difficult way and I'm probably at least 6 months behind.
