A group of AC users in the Baltimore area have begun meeting to discuss AC and other EMR issues. Since most of us (actually all of us, so far) are essentially solo or small group, independent docs, we also will take the opportunity to network and discuss other practice management related topics.
Are there other groups like this with some experience out there? Any suggestions for us? Questions include how often to meet, format for the meetings, topics for discussion, and how to deal with potential new users in the area (of which there seem to be many).

I love the idea of local users group. Any takers for the central Florida area?

I am in Central Florida, north of Orlando in Lake Mary. A good hour from the Villages though, Frank.

Let's see if we can get few more from Central Florida.

Lake Mary is a skip and a jump for someone who has survived the LIE (Long Island Expressway).

So it looks like there are no other groups up and running? That is a bit of a surprise...

We would consider expanding the geographic boundaries of our group a bit to include some of you, but I am afraid it might be a bit far to travel. Besides, the charter for our group will certainly include a "No Y**nkee fan" clause, and I suspect that will eliminate Frank and Wayne. Inclusiveness has its limits!

I am told that there are 4 users in northern indiana.

I am in SE Michigan (metro Detroit). I guess northern IN would be 'on way to Chicago' if I were visiting there (!!). Anyone else in metro detroit?

Leslie, Southern Indiana....that's practically Iowa. I know of 3-4 Iowans using AC, we've exchanged e-mails....but no meetings.

I will see if I can extract a list of users in various parts of the country. Then perhaps I can come up with some regional meeting location ideas.

I think AC should create a map c pins on it on this User group of where people are, then we could easily create user groups.

Actually, I know that there are quite a few users in NYC. They just don't participate here. I was talking with our Quest rep yesterday and she stated that she had additional accounts with AC.

Michael, I'm glad to meet you. I won't be at the ACUC, but maybe we'll have a local user group.

Would be nice to have a NY metropolitan area group. Will see if any others nearby at the meeting.

We are in Pennington, NJ - just across the PA border. I love the idea of local users groups! Maybe we could get some more in the eastern/PA,Central NJ area.

Perhaps this could be a topic at the ACUC? We could come up with several regions and people can sign their name on a list if they'd like to participate in that region's user group?

Yeah, SE Michigan! I know another SE MI user also and we are both interested.

I did mention this to one of the staff at ACUC, and asked them if they could provide users with the data for users in discrete geographic areas so that groups could be formed.
I belong to our pioneering Baltimore group. Even though we are recently organized, it has been great!

What advantages have you found from the local group?

The local group has been great for the comraderie of like-minded individuals. Also, as a new user, it has been great for me to see how more experienced users work with AC. It has been like getting good advice from the users' board, but in person, with in depth, real-time discussions.

Sounds like a great idea for the new regional sales managers to spear-head. It would encourage sales if local user support groups were available for new customers.

I'm Charlie Schachter, VP of Marketing for Amazing Charts. We would like to encourage and support the development of Amazing Charts User Groups (ACUGs) across the entire country, in every state or region.

We are planning to develop a section of our website that would have links to pages for every ACUG. The web page would allow people to sign-up, schedule meetings, post resources, etc.

In the meantime, I'd like to begin formally collecting the names of anyone who want to start an ACUG in their area. Please email me -- charlie @ the company name.

I dropped Charlie an email, we currently bounce between SoCal, Lake Tahoe, and sometimes in Las Vegas; so I'll engage in any of those areas.

I know Marty is in OC, and Martin is North LA - any other West Coasters in?

I am from SW Washington State - Lake Tahoe would be great.

Jon - due to popular demand and persistent needling, we will be hosting a low-key get together this fall in Tahoe. Compared to the beautifully sponsored ACUC, the event will be decidedly low-brow. It will be a Provider centered event that will BYOS - Bring Your Own Stuff.

Instead of a carving station, it probably will be a grill under the pine trees with the lake nearby.

Once we have more info to make public I'll make a post, and I'm going to attempt the open-source model of crowd-sourcing ideas, schedule, agenda etc.
