Although there's an option to change to date when writing lab orders, in reality when printed only the current date shows up. Is there a possibility we will be able to post-date labs so patients can do their labs for the next visit 3 months later?

This was possible in older versions. It is something that has been brought to the attention of AC. It will also be brought up again at the ACUC. One can only hope that it will be fixed because it bothers the heck out of me too!!

How are you printing labslips? I just send an order to the nurse who then writes a labslip or enters it on our Quest website. Soon Labcorp will also be setting up my office with a website to enter lab orders. My Quest interface with AC only provides lab results. What am I missing?

Go to "Write Orders", check out the various tabs, including "Lab". There you will see some pre-made orders. You can add to these in the administrator section. Or, click "Other" and you can make templates for labs, such as "arthritis panel". There is a box then for printing these you can select. I have never had a problem with any of the regional labs taking my printouts. They do not have to be on the specific lab's forms.

When I set up lab orders in administration, each one has its CPT code in the assigned line. When printing the order, these do not appear on the form. Is this true in all versions (I am using 5.0.29)? This should be on the form to make it truly universal so any lab will know exactly which test is ordered.

Let me just say that there are a lot of known issues with the orders section. We are all hopeful this will be one of the areas to receive a lot of focus in the months to come.

My understanding is that you are not allowed to post date scrips, particularly Schedule II - I write a second scrip and date it on the same day - in the note to pharmacist I write TO BE FILLED ON OR AFTER XX/XX/XX. It then shows up in the medication history as 2 on the same day - this meets letter of the law although my state says I have to keep a scanned copy of the scrip so I print, sign and then scan back into imported items.

Steven, I'm also in Washington, and have never heard of a requirement to keep a scanned copy. Can you point me to information about such a regulation?

I called the state board of pharmacy and was told this - the rules are vague - I have always kept copies of Schedule II - they stated that even scanned copies are not true copies, but they would most likely accept this.
