OK, let's see if this sounds correct?
I can buy a basic Medisoft package, single user $399.00 Amazing charts user interface (HL7) $500.00 one time
I should be able to transfer (batch ) daily and generate aging reports and apply payments in the medidoft package.

I have Medisoft - started out cheap - they have upgrades every year or so and the latest to meet ANSI 10 for electronic billing is going to cost me $1,800.00 and I just bought this less than 2 years ago. I also paid $1,500.00 for an upgrade for Medisoft one year - it would not install without errors - I called them and no support (even to install) was included with the $1,500.00 and they wanted me to pay a minimum of $300.00 for support to help me install it for the first time.......beware and remember you get what you pay for.

I have Medisoft as well and am happy with it--but use a third party company to provide customer service/tech support. I also purchased the Medisoft/AC interface for HL7. As other users have pointed out, don't bother with the X-link interface. I am still in the process of getting the interface set up. The documentation explaining the process is totally inadequate, so I would not recommend that you try to do it yourself, but ask someone at AC tech support to help you.

I use medisoft - have for 10 years and am just frustrated by the frequent upgrades and lack of support. I know it is frustrating waiting for AC's PM program to come out, but I assume you are using something now and if you buy Medisoft and start reentering all data you will end up with another disparate system. I see 20-30 patients per day and do hospital - my biller (wife) just enters the information by hand into the PM program (Medisoft) and has for 10 years - she feels like it allows her to double check the information from the front desk and she can still do all of her billing in 1-2 hours.

Frank, Have you thought about using the AC billing service? http://amazingcharts.com/services/billing-services/I don't use it, because I already have Medisoft. But if you're just starting out, it might be a simple bridge to get by till AC offers PM.

I have been in private practice , solo since 11/07. I have used billing services , twice and will no longer go down that path. I have been a beta test site for 5.0.
We are doing the best we can using AC with Office ally. I'd just like to get some AR reports w/o getting hosed.

I am still using EZclaim without apparent issues, and it only costs $188 per month to use the clearing house. Is anyone else using it? If not, why not?

We have been using EZ claims since 2007 when we live with AC. It works, but I am very anxious for AC to have their own PM.

How do you get around all the issue with punctuation with EZclaim?
When my biller looked at it ,she felt that it was not worth the effort.

Not sure what you mean by punctuation. I vaguely remember that comments in the insurance fields need to not have certain punctuations. The major annoyances are that EZ can only import up to 4 fields, and AC breaks any links in CPT and ICD9 codes.
