Hello,
I just upgrading to 5.1.7 and there is a definite problem when printing prescriptions to the Star TSP-800 thermal prescription printer.

"Florida" has been removed as a prescription printing option. Florida mandates textual dates and quantities. The TSP-800 default settings on Amazing Charts no longer do this. Currently I am using a workaround using the Maine prescription format, printing 4 per page, printing one at a time. Wish software upgrades would not break existing features. I was using my Star TSP-800 prescription printer and printing Florida approved prescription on version 5.0.X without problems. Anybody else got a better workaround, please let me know!

For those of you that think I should just be e-eprescribing, I try, but my main pharmacy is a government military base that only accept paper prescriptions and has no plans to accept e-prescribes or even fax prescriptions. Talk about an unfunded mandate!

Sounds like this is worth a call to AC. If it was undone, perhaps it can be redone.

There are other problems with V5.1.7 and the TSP800II printer. There is no longer an option to print one prescription per page. This means that if you are printing multiple prescriptions there will be one header and all of the medications will be listed below this. The paper for the TSP800II comes on a roll and is designed so that at the top of each prescription is a list of the security features for the paper. With V5.1.7 the print will cover the security feature description. Another problem is the amount of pills. For example, if I select 120 then "One Hundred Twenty" will be printed on the prescription. This will usually cover the number of refills. I live in SC so format 2 complies with our state law. If I use the # sign before the amount of pills, say, #30, then it will print #30. To get around the problem of printing multiple prescriptions I do the following: select all of the medications. After I press the PRESCRIBE button the medications will be listed and ready to transmit or print. If I click the right mouse button and select the PRINT option for each medication then I can print one prescription per page. I contacted Guardian Angel and they agree it's a bug in the system.

I'm now using TSP-800 Version 1 print format. The textual Amount of tablets overwrites the Refill number.
In other words "Three Hundred Sixty" Appears as
"Three
Hundred
Sixty"
and spills over into the Refill number section.

Ted, Thanks for the workaround on printing multiple prescriptions. I will note that my TSP-8000 is not the default printer, so I can't seem to get this workaround to work.

Can you change the default printer to the TSP800II? If you do this then it will work. You will have to remember when printing something else such as a letter to select a different printer. You should be able to click on Control Panel>Printers and then right-click on the TSP800 in the list of printers and select Set as Default Printer. Is there some reason that you cannot set the TSP800 as the default printer?

Also, have you tried typing the # sign before the amount of pills? If you do this then a number preceded by the pound sign will be printed rather than the amount being spelled out.

I'm so glad you guys are checking out the B-version to figure out all these bugs. I'm scared to try an upgrade at this time.

This is completely unacceptable. Too many of us have $600 invested in the TSP not to mention the paper. Chris, this isn't a bug. The entire formatting setup has changed.

This has to be redone. It worked before. I send an email to Jon, but I think we will all need to. And, get more people to write on this thread.

As I told Jon, 5.16 and 5.17 have incredible new features. But, there is no way I am going to upgrade even for meaningful use.

Have spoken with Amazing Charts - they have received a star printer and are working on the fix for the version 6 MU release version - they were not able to reproduce, but did not have that printer to work with so they are working on fixing it.

How can they reproduce it when they don't have anything to reproduce it on? Just put it back the way it was.

They were not sure what caused the error - they have the printer and are fixing the programming issue so it will work. They did not purposefully make it not work right, so they needed the printer to work on it.

Yes, they did purposefully cause the error. I don't mean they sat around saying let's break this, but one, it was fine the way it was, why change it. And, two, if they are going to advertise the TSP800 printer and the thermal paper ON the page, then it would only make sense that they have a TSP800 printer.

I don't know what deal they have with Star Micronics, but I would think Star would have given them a printer.

This issue is causing many users to not be able to use the 5.1 versions. Hopefully, this will be CHANGED not FIXED back to the original setup.

And, ironically, AC can't blame not having a TSP800 to reproduce the error. All they have to do is click on Preview Script, and it will show the bold font that causes much of the issue.

The good thing is that no matter what caused the problem - they are working on putting it back and making it work again.
