I have noticed that intermittently my staff sends me messages with a pt attached in the subject line (as we have always done)but the refill and open chart buttons are grayed out and you cannot access the pt chart from the message box. Has this happened to anyone else? It has only been happening since upgrade to 5.1.6 and it still happens in 5.1.7.

Yes it has happened to me too. It seems to be an intermittent issue. We have not been able to figure this out ourselves.

Support had no answers also and said no other provider has reported this as an issue. So, bug them about this too so we can get them to troubleshoot it.

I just updated to 5.1.7

I was told that no messaging changes were made.

Yes, I reportecd this problem in V5.16 last month and they said that they could not repeat the error. Frustrating though because messages appear to "de-attach" themselves when sent by the nurse to me to respond to, when I attach them again, it generates a whole new message, and the color bannor assigned is also negated.

Ok, I will harass them because it looks like more than one of us has reported the problem

We have noticed this too, infrequent but it occurs. Two observations:

1. More likely to occur the more often a message has been ping-ponged back and forth, MUCH more likely to occur on 6th reply than first.

2. Often seems to occur from one specific user. This is our RN, who also has more of the ping-pong messages. So this may not be an independent variable.

As you have probably figured out, easy to reattach patient to orphan message, just highlight patient and click attach.

I got the Guardians to sign on so they could see the problem. It is happening to me on multiple pts a day whether or not it is an initial message or not. Easy to attach a pt if you have a unique last name and initial. I live in an area where I have 5 different M. Martinez's. It has also orphaned the message (good term) after I have attached it and replied to the message.

Allegedly, they are looking into it. I guess we have to deal with it until the next update.

E-mailed AC - they believe the problem has been fixed in the Meaningful Use version - hopefully will release soon and this will be no more.

I actually talked with the lead programmer - don't know if they just want to check with someone's data.

We had this at the start of the 5.1.3 beta testing and had the developement team logged and and gave them multiple exams of patients and our database but we never did seem to get it completely fixed but it slowed down with subsequent versions of 5.1
and we have had it happen much less and with every user in the office.

Solo practice has it's headaches but beats being an employee.
