Has anyone had any experience with X-Link? I am a trial AC user. My (excellent) biller wants me to use their billing software; it is AdvancedMD. I will have to link the 2 systems with X-link, if I do this. I'm very curious to know how this configuration has worked for any current users that use X-link. My understanding is that I will have to press a button to allow the flow of information from the other PM side back to my side on AC, as it's not real time. I'm also concerned about expense and paying for upgrades when any of the 3 systems upgrade.
Thank you!

I think you need to address a few things - how do you currently put info into AdvancedMD ? If you manually enter or send a facesheet/superbill then there is no real reason not to continue this - I feel that the double entry (we do with medisoft) actual allows a double checking of information and is not real redundant - it makes a difference on how many people you see - I see 20-35 per day (most are repeat visits) and my wife feels like she can do all the billing in a couple of hours a couple of times per week and keep up easily (along with a fair amount of hospital billing).
AC can print demographics and a superbill now - the PM module will be even more robust and is an option - just don't let someone push you into spending $1,000 just for their convenience.

I bill from my office, and I have medisoft. However X link has delivered whatever they promised in terms of patient demo information and sending bills over to PM program. So far I have not faced any major problem with breakdown where one software vendor is pointing finger another. Cost of program and upgrades is painful, but avoiding double entry saves in terms of employee time. Though we miss out on doublechecking as described above. One more problem is place of service is picked up from last case... and therefore if you work out of multiple locations on same patient (for example inpatient, office and nursing home) you will need to doublecheck and correct appropriate field. X link also has special software requirement. Hope this helps.

By the way entry (transfer of data between AC and PM software) can be automatic or manual.

I have been an AC user since 04/10. Prior to that I used Praxis. I have been using X-link since 2006. With Praxis, I had all kinds of problems, mostly on their side with the interfaces. Since switching in 04/10, I have had no problems whatsoever using X-link. I use Lytec for my billing. I was on version 2006 until about a week ago, as I too did not want to pay for the upgrades to all the programs. With the 4 version upgrade of Lytec, it cost me about $350 to upgrade the X-link. I went from version 12 to 14, so that it would work when I upgraded to Lytec 2011. Their prices are fairly reasonable when looking at a lot of the other medical software companies. I would recommend not purchasing the 60 day support, just pay by the hour. The techs they use have always gotten on my system and been finished within 15 minutes to update the program. You are right about the issue with flow of information. The superbills go in real time to the billing software, but all demographics and other information from the billing software need to be manually transferred. My girl at the front desk does this several times a day, so really not a big deal at all. A few clicks of buttons is all it takes. Overall, I'm very happy with the current setup.

Hi sologi,
I am using a billing service and want to switch to in-house billing. My potential part-time in-house biller asks me to use Medisoft and I want to keep using Gateway EDI as my clearing house. I became an AC user since 11-2010. My biller wants me to submit claims to Gateway by myself and she will take care anything after submission. Is there a way to submit daily superbills from AC directly to Gateway? Or I have to input them to Medisoft first then submit to Gateway? Can these process be done automatically or have to be manually?
I don't have any experiences; please help!!
Thank you very much,
Shunian

Shunian, I do not think that you will be able to send superbills from AC to Gateway. I use AC and Lytec, with X-link interfacing the two, and Gateway as my CH. When I sign off a chart, it creates a superbill. This superbill is then out there waiting to be picked up by the interface program, in this case, X-link. It is then put into the patient's chart as a superbill, in your case would be Medisoft. If you want in office billing, you have 2 options from what I can tell. Either print out the superbill and have your biller manually put in the charge. Or, get an interface program like X-link and the superbill will be transferred into your billing software automatically.
If you use the interface, the only work created for your biller would be to submit the claims to Gateway, which is a few clicks of buttons, assuming that they are all "cleaned" up a bit. I hope this helps.

We use Advanced MD ( because my billing person loves it and had been using it before we started in AC) and the X-link software. You are correct, X-link charges for updates. This occurs more often because AMD updates their software than because of an AC update. The billing information flows well from AC to AMD. However, currently the schedule does not come across and the email addresses do not come across. My staff installed a X-link upgrade or modification yesterday, I think they told me that one or both of these things will now come across. Also, if they put the demographicas in AMD and you get to the eprescribe before the data transfers over to AC then eprescribe doesn't work because the demographic info is incomplete. ( At least that is what they tell me....I think it is entirely possible that the delay is actually human factor rather than technical limitation.)
