If you are using a twain-compliant scanner and scanning insurance cards directly into AC, is the information stored as a jpeg image or PDF, OR do you also use OCR software?
I'm wondering how you get the information into the demographics section. I understand that we cannot scan and populate the demographic fields directly. If the scanner automatically uses OCR software once the data is imported can you cut and paste the info to the apprpopriate fields?
I've read about the DocketPort. Anyone using the DuplexScan 1200 from BizCardReader?

http://www.scanshell-store.com/This is my favorite by far. But, it is my philosophy to let everyone do what they do best. My receptionist enters in new demographics, and I don't see how cutting and pasting is any quicker than just typing it in. By the end of the day her work is done and once your practice is up and running, I don't think there are that many to do.

We use the MediScan OCR True Parse http://www.scanshell-store.com/insurance-card-scanner.htm which actually will parse the data into databases. I am thinking of having Ed write a program to allow certain fields to be put into AC automatically.
