I think you can do whatever you want with it - it is like blood glucose testing - you should just standardize where you put it - maybe at end of PMHX or at end of ROS - eg Blood glucose testing 2 x daily for insulin treated or 3 times daily for insulin treated with elevated blood sugars --- that way when you have to provide documentation for medicare you have it in the chart.
You can just type it in the prescriptions but it won't be codified. You can still put it there and it will print a scrip, although a scrip only tells the oxygen company to send the 8.5 x 11 form to you to do over again (don't get me started on the pain of DME scrips - pt. always say 'all I need is a scrip').

We also keep O2 orders in the prescription writer. So I can't use it to write a DME Rx with, big deal. It's in the med list and I would consider O2 a medication, but the bottom line is that I agree w/ Steven. For us it's a consistent location to keep such information. That works for us.
If you want to place that in another section of AC is your prerogative.

Great and thanks! I forgot one could enter Rx's as freehand, non-codified entries. So that worked. I too hate the DME monkey business!!

maybe someday they'll let us E-authorize those types of orders. We waste a lot of paper printing those authorizations so they can have my "original" signature."
