In the CPT/ICD9 screen, Section 4, how does one easily select particular ICD-9 codes for each CPT? In some instances, all DX codes relate to all CPT codes, so we can leave them as they appear.

Otherwise, do we have to clear any diagnosis/diagnoses that do not relate to the CPT in each of the four dx boxes? It does not seem particularly easy (as it would be, for example, to enter a DX pointer code (e.g. 1, or 13, or 24, to designate which diagnosis goes with the CPT).

Am I missing something here?

Thank you : )

That's interesting.
We do not use the pm side of ac.
I have to admit that I was very new when I tried it, so this may not be the truth at all.
My experience was that every cpt got all the icds. I also found that I could not control the order of the icds. Again, my caveat is that this was over 2 years ago.

It is, at times, necessary to associate specific dx codes to particular CPT codes.

For example: Office visit at the same time as a debridement.
You typically must use modifier 25 for the OV and have different
dx codes for each. Dx pointing is necessary.

I found out from tech support that it is necessary to use drop-down menus in section #4 to remove the dx that does not apply. This should improve, I am told, in the next release.
