Help. All of a sudden we've lost links to all our imported items. The fix-it utility sees nothing to fix. Rebooting, using backed-up import databases, etc makes no difference. It seems that the pt records have somehow lost track of the imported files. Any suggestions? (Besides rescanning everything...) Bob Burr

Hey Bert or Roy, Wasn't it one of you more computer savvy guys who said something about AC uses like Windows registry files or something to link Imported Items to any particular chart??? Am I remembering this correctly???
Robert, when you open the Imported Items folder do you see lots of other folders with numbers on them???? Chart Numbers on them? That is how I always thought that AC lined these things up. So folder number 123 has chart number 123's imported items... Have you called AC even if after hours frantically asking for help and to help you find your Items????
Good luck and try Bert or Vinny. They both seem to have a good handle on this stuff. Have a "nice" weekend? Paul

Robert,
Try not to panic. But, this is the thing about Imported Items I get nervous about, because you can back up the folder with all the data and you can back up the ImportItems.mdb. But, there are separate, and I worry about the link between the two.
You may already have this solved, but give us more information, i.e. when was the last time it worked, did you do anything different prior like installing a new update of AC or any new software? Are you running XP Pro or Home. Are you on a peer-to-peer or a domain? Is your main AC folder on a workstation and shared to the others or is it on a server?
This may sound too simple, but if you are running XP, have you considered trying System Restore? If not, and you are using it, copy the entire folder to another PC or CD or something and then try restoring the computer back to a point where it linked. Then, you can add back the other five databases.
Let me know.

Robert, If you haven't solved the problem, call support and they will tell you what is best. I hope you are doing back up daily, better yet, offsite back up so they can restore your files. I corrupted my files once by interrupting a fix procedure because the computer froze, they helped me restore. Lost a week due to lack of our backup, but you better believe we back up daily now.

I'm not a computer whiz (although I'm flattered that Paul thinks I am). Anyways, this is what I know about the import function. And I learned this from Professor Bert.
There is a large section where the actual chart item is categorized by patient chart number. If you have this data preserved, you haven't lost the actual data (although you may have lost the link between Amazinchart and your database.
This link is found in import.mdb. This file is found along with amazingcharts.mdb, codes.mdb, medication.mdb, etc. This file is much smaller than the other sections. Import.mdb links the imported items to the open charts so that if this is destroyed, it looks like you have lost everything. If this is for some reason permanently damaged, you will have to reconnect all of the data to the file (essentially re-import the files to the patient).
(Vinny, Bert, correct me if my explanation is incorrect).
I think your best bet is to call Amazingchart support and hope that there is someone there that could help you. I'd be frustrated and worried if this happened to me.

Roy, you are absolutely correct, and I have tried to "break" the links before with trial backups and haven't been able to, although it does scare me some.
The two things I would try other than contacting support which certainly wouldn't hurt ESPECIALLY if one made a backup of the ImportItems.mdb database prior would be the following:
Try System Restore with all of the databases backed up on another PC. If that brings your links back, add back your .mdbs.
Another small possibility would be to have everything intact and run "Detect and Repair" for all Access databases prior to 2007 and Microsoft Office Diagnostics on Access if you have 2007.
If Support is helping, great. If not, then we NEED feedback to help you.

Robert, Just curious, what was the final outcome??? Where were they and were you able to fix your issue? Who helped and what did or didn't work. This is always a great learning experience for all of us...Hope you and your data are OK.... Paul
