Started getting error that we are unable to send electronic rx's no matter whether it was the laptops or the main computer. I have had nothing but headaches with this program since day 1. We are having to contact support on a regular basis. Is there any other offices experiencing this too? Please advise!!

I have used e prescribing since Version 4 back in June of 2010 - never had any issues. What error are you getting ? Is it always the same error? Is your internet working properly?

In order to submit electronically you need to codify the drugs. You get an activation okay by email first and then codify meds by right clicking and selecting from the drop down menu. When I first started, I had some issues. First I called my favorite pharmacist and told him I was going to try it and see how it went. Hadn't codified anything and at that point the pharmacy got the scripts but they were faxed by surescripts instead of going electronically. I think it is all about codifying. Make sure you are picking the correct pharmacy too. And make sure that you are logged in as a prescribing user.

I have started with version 5 and have had very good results. Most of the time there is an issue it is related to the format of the prescription. It is very finicky. Codifying is the first step. Making sure not to use incorrect parameters in the quantity, no gms, tablets, oz etc, only numeric data. Make sure your numeric data does not have a leading or trailing space in quantity or refills(very irritating and should be fixed by better programming). Not trying to send classified meds that are not allowed, Valium, Norco, etc What errors are you getting? Have you had any success in sending electronically or is it intermittent errors? What version are you using?

I'm trying to figure out how to electronically submit scripts to medco and caremark and the mailorder co's. They don't have an address or a zipcode on their forms and are apparently not in surescripts. Does anybody know about this. We are doing fine with drug stores. Enter zipcode and up pops choices that are easy to select. What about the mailorders??

If you just search for Medco it will come up as MEDCO (fax Only), otherwise you can search for caremark, express scrips, etc by leaving the city, state blank - they make it intentionally hard to find as they don't want them, but I have found most.

I don't understand why they dont want them. So if I understand this correctly, we can send electronically to medco but it somehow gets faxed to them. Who doesn't want this done electronically? Our problem with medco has always been that no matter how many times we return their faxes they do not have them or decide not to find them so we insist that the patient take care of this by mail themselves. My office staff believe that the issue is money and medco needs payment info with the script.

Apparently the pharmacies have to $$$PAY$$$ to receive electronic Rxs. The cheeeeeepskates probably do not want to spend more money, they don't mind taking our time though.
I think faxing is without cost.

The patient's expectation is that you have all the answers, sometimes they just don't like the answer you have for them

Medco is easy. From my point of view it is electronic to a single destination even if they actually get a FAX. Express scripts has been my problem without apparent solution.
