Amazing Charts Meaningful Use Update:
We have recently completed a gap analysis of where we are and where we need to be regarding Meaningful Use. We currently meet all but one of the 15 core rules and 8 of 10 of the menu set. We are planning on meeting all 25 guidelines and being fully certified, before the end of the year. Also, we will have a tool within the program that will allow you to generate your necessary reports quickly and easily. Our goal is not just to meet Meaningful Use guidelines, but to do so in line with our philosophy of keeping Amazing Charts functional and easy to use.
As you probably know, testing bodies will likely be certified by the end of August and testing will likely begin at the end of September (after the final rules have been out for 60 days). We plan to be ready for testing at that time. While there will likely be a long queue of other EHR programs in line for testing, we expect it will proceed quickly given the short time between then and the beginning of 2011. CMS did anticipate this situation, and that is why they only require providers to use a certified EHR for 90 days during 2011 to get full reimbursement. However, we are planning on being fully certified for Meaningful Use before the end of the year.
More to come as we move closer to releasing our Meaningful Use compliant version.

Thanks so much for the post. It's good to know that AC will be easily compliant with all the HiTech stuff. Just a little extra cash in our pockets to buy some new hardware.

Josephine, I agree with Bill and Travis. The content of your post is encouraging news, and the simple fact that you shared the information with us is very much appreciated.

Does this mean 5.029 is 14/15 and 8/10 or is this for 5.1?

Thanks for the update. At some point in next few weeks, can AC post a step by step guide to adopt meaningful use for users who have been using AC but have not been using the functions in the EMR necessary for meaningful use. Parth Bharill, M.D.

Ok, so I just visited the CMS website and am looking for how to qualify for the 2% bonus for 2010 for eprescribing. If you eprescribe 25 times during an encounter in this calendar year you qualify for the bonus. There is a list of registries that can validate/report for you. Surescripts was not on that list so I guess the only way to qualify for 2010 is to report a G code and cost of $0.00 on your claim form with the encounter claim. It is 25 scripts or 10% of medicare encounters or something like that. With a whole quarter left in the year, I don't think it is too late to do this. Has anyone else done this or know how to do it. I keep getting all these proposals for how I'm going to get some of this meaningful use money but so far this is the only thing I see as doable this year. Anybody with any suggestions. AC is not listed as one of the registries that can report for us and qualify for money this year at the CMS website. That is unless there is a plan to be there before the end of Jan 2011. Anybody know any specifics?

I have started doing this and I use the claim based way. Here, if you eRx on a Medicare patient during an office visit you just put in code G8553 with a $0 charge as well as the E/M code and off it goes. You do 25 of those for 2010 and your done. A little tough for me because I don't do a lot of prescriptions but I guarantee I'll do 25 before year's end!

This sounds WAY to good to be true. Just do 25 Rxs on Medicare patients and submit the g8553 code on them and I get a 2% bonus??
I could pull that off in a week with minimal effort (which tells you my Medicare percentage). I guess I will give it a go. Of course that means that not only do I need to trust that the government is here to help but that the check is in the mail. hmmmm.
