One of my MLP's, a NP, is having personal "issues" and taken a leave of absence. She has 127 messages, labs and charts in her mailbox that is only accessible to her hidden password. One AC problem is that if an incomplete chart is in a mailbox it cannot be viewed by even the administrator. Does anyone know of a way an administrator can access a provider's message box without the provider's password?? Thanks, Aldo

First of all, I know all of my employees passwords...in fact, I set them up and told them what they were. I noted this deficiency in AC early on. I know all of their Windows sign on passwords as well. I figure any activity that goes on in my office on my computers is my business.

You are correct. I agree with holding all the passwords, and I thought I did, until she convinced the IT guy while I was away that there was a security breach of her personal E-mail and wanted to change all of her passwords everywhere. He of course logged in as the administrator and allowed her to change the password which he assumed would be solely hers! There must be a way that the administrator can have access to all accounts.

The messages in their inbox will still be in the outbox of the sender, You could retreive them that way. I thought the password could be changed by the administrator by going into the users section.

Aldo, Anyone who has the administrative password can look up the password related to the individual account: 1. View 2. Administrator Options 3. User account (configuration) 4. Add/edit user--- if you scroll to find the username, in the middle of the screen, the account password is visibly written. At this point you can either change it, or just log in to the Rogue account, retrieve the messages, and resend them to the provider/whomever needs to solve the 127 delayed msgs. 5.Your IT person may need to be reminded of access/info limits, and when a request like that is being made, then they need to go through the right chain of command. Good luck.

You should have an admin password and the ability to go in and check for these things. As Chazli said, with the admin password you can go in and then either see and/or change the password.

Thank you Chazli. I did all that you stated exactly as stated but when i scroll and bring up the provider the password is listed as 5 stars in the box, but the ability to reset the password or the provider level is open to me.I'm on version 5 and must be doing something wrong. btw, where in pa are you located? I'm in bucks county.

Aldo,
It is listed in stars. But, next to it in red, there is a reset button. Just reset the password and put in whatever you want.

Why is the provider allowed to leave without at least forwarding all the messages to another inbox? Or better yet, spend one day taking care of as many as he/she can. I have been using AC for seven years and have never had more than 10 messages at any given time.
By the way, if I ever forget anyone's password, I will rely on you guys to help me. All of our passwords are the letter "e." While my login passwords for each user account are very secure, I fail to see the reason to worry about security for AC. Maybe now, since the auditing is better.

From experience, Bert, the "allowed to leave" assumes an employee who is playing with a full deck and with some residual sense of responsibility. Sadly, that does not always apply.

David, you are correct. It took us awhile to realize that the 127 messages accumulating in the mailbox pointed to a greater problem. Another issue is the inability to view an incomplete note because it is in another's mailbox, so if the pharmacy or hosp calls about an rx or diagnostic study ordered, I cannot clarify due to inability to retrieve the note. Thank you Bert. i have reset the password and hope to complete all messages before the AC conference in providence next week. Regards to all, hope to see some of you there.

I try to have it empty every day but I often have between 30 and 60 messages between filing, refills, and phone messages in addition to the patients to be seen, (if I get a little behind!)

I can't believe that unsigned charts are left in the mailbox for any significant length of time. All our notes are signed and accounted for as signed at the end of every work day. My mailbox is empty. I go through over 100 messsages every day. The beauty of AC is that we deal with everything the day it happens. My MA has some trouble keeping up with me and has things to do or appts to arrange with specialist and those things are in his mailbox but no charts are left unsigned in anybody's mailbox. That is just asking for trouble.

Hi, Aldo, Glad you were able to reset the password... I did not realize it has been starred out in the newer version. Our office is in North Carolina.. the PA in the name is for Professional Association.
