Why is the spell check on AC so completely lame and even pathetic? Why are there words such as cotoneaster, but not words like dysplastic? What is so striking is what words are not in the dictionary and what words are. It's really quite bizarre. One would think by now AC would have upgraded their spell check to the 21st century.

I agree. And even if you "save" new words, the AC spell checker has a bug that won't remember mixed case words, such as "EKGs". So it flags them as errors again & again. Now that we have this new spelling of some drugs (ie: "busPIRone" or "predniSONE"), there are even more errors flagged, which can't be saved to the dictionary.

I'm with ya here too. Thought I would add my support to this just in case the #'s add clout.

John, you are a vet, so I am sure you are on top of this one. But, does it change after awhile? I mean I can ignore all mixed cased words. Mine doesn't flag busPIRone or predniSONE.
@AKbeth Trust me, #s don't count. If they did, we would have the greatest letter writer ever made. LOL.

Bert, if you have found a way to not flag mixed case words, let me know. It still does the same to me again and again, whether I Add them or Ignore them.

Sure. This will make up for my guilt on our "flame wars" LOL on the Brother printers. I am afraid to write this, because I am sure you have already done it. But, whene the spell checker comes up, click on options at the bottom, and the Spell Checker Options window will open. You then can click that one off. Keep in mind that each spell checker and each userdic.tlx (which is editable is Notepad as well) is specific to each client. Which is silly, but that is the case.

Oh My I just saw this thread and have to confess, I never correct the spell checker's suggestion for otitis. It is always good for a chuckle.

That is too funny! And, I never pictured your finding that funny.
I used to work for one of those hospital-owned practices (need I say more). We didn't part ways amiably. Anyway, Word spellchecker would always suggest a certain word for them. I found it highly amusing. I can't really share it here as some would find it offensive, and I respect that.
But, spellcheckers have still not evolved to the point where they can actually realize the word they are suggesting is not appropriate in that context.
