We plan on attending the ACUC to help get some assistance on making AC work for our comprehensive holistic-oriented practice.
I thought I would do a shout out to any other doctors who are holistically oriented and using AC. Our doctor sees patients for an hour or more and discusses multiple health issues at each visit.
How have others adapted AC to fit the needs of this type of practice? How do you organize your encounter note? How much detail do you go into? How do you track and document comprehensive testing? How long does it take you to enter notes?
We are in need of help because it takes the doctor 2 hours to prepare each patient's chart!! I know a lot of this is initial data entry into AC, but she may be doing a lot more work than is necessary.
We hope that there will be some other similar people to talk to at the ACUC!
Cheers,
S.K.

There is nothing different about holistically oriented vs. comprehensive mainstream care when it comes to documentation. If the clinician chooses to gather lots of information at one visit, then it will take longer to record it all. One could use templates creativly or practice medical haiku

Hi SK,
There will be approximately 200 other AC users at the conference and each one will have a unique approach to its use. The first ACUC was so much fun because there was an atmosphere of everyone helping each other by sharing their tips and experiences. This meeting should be even better because we will also have the AC staff present along with Jon.
There should be ample opportunity to soak up tips and still have one on one assistance.
See you there.

ACUC Update
The 2010 ACUC is officially sold out at 200 attendees (we had 95 at the first ACUC in Branson). Jon will send out a Survey Monkey within the next week to help us better evaluate your expectations. Here is our CME approval that we received today:
This activity, Amazing Charts User Conference 2010, with a beginning date of June 25, 2010, has been reviewed and is acceptable for up to 19 Prescribed credits by the American Academy of Family Physicians AMA/AAFP Equivalency: AAFP Prescribed credit is accepted by the American Medical Association as equivalent to AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ toward the AMA Physician’s Recognition Award. When applying for the AMA PRA, Prescribed credit earned must be reported as Prescribed, not as Category 1.
The ACUC Committee plans to put together a tips and tricks manual(we will come up with a better name) that will be credited contributions from all attendees at the conference. Jon will make the manual available to everyone online.
Finally, we have decided to dedicate the ACUC 2010 to Dr. Brian Cotner and his lovely wife Laura whose dedication and hard work helped make the first ACUC so memorable.
