Has anyone experimented with the iPhone and logmein application to access amazing charts.

Just curious. This may be a solution to allow you to have AC in your pocket at all times.

Thanks.
Jay.

i've just started to try that out. it works, but the size of the screen makes it mildly cumbersome to do a lot. i guess it's nice to have for occasional urgent needs.

Thanks I think I will give it a try.
I'm thinking it would work good when on call or when away from a computer.

I'd really like to upgrade to iPhone 3gs. I read an extensive technical review at Anandtech.com which states that the new phone is really quite faster in processing apps and downloading pages because it uses a faster multithreading processor. The article lists actual benchmarks.

Price is holding me back right now. I can afford it, but AT&T won't discount the price until I have many more months of current contract complete.
I hate the idea of paying more especially when my reception and coverage leaves much to be desired.

But 3gs may be better for accessing AC.

Well, honestly, the thing that will usually hold you back the most is bandwidth as far as LogMeIn on the iPhone. AT&T is hit or miss on this, depending on where you live. For screen size, it is difficult to use something like the iPhone for using a program with a resolution that is larger than the screen, such as Amazing Charts. Most people have a laptop, I would suggest tethering as a better option than using the iPhone for ease-of-use or finding a wireless hotspot if you need a speedy connection.

I use LogMeIn a lot to access AC from home and the hospital when patients, the ER calls, etc. So when LogMeIn Ignition for the iPhone came out, I got it. I luckily timed my AT&T contract right, and was able to move right from the original iPhone to the 3GS at the subsidized price. By the way, put the old iPhone on eBay -- the prices are unbelievable -- I got almost $300. My previous Blackberry I couldn't even give away as a paperweight.

In any case, iPhone LogMeIn has been a real lifesaver several times already. The connection with 3G is good, even better with WiFi -- I guess the app must compress the image or something, since the screen download & refresh is fast. I had no trouble in reading the data because you can stretch the image. I wouldn't use it for everyday use, but it's amazing to be able to access AC while rolling down the aisle in the grocery store.

Thanks John and Paul for your comments. I do have the 3gs and have become more used to navigating on iphone's safari browser. It was very cumbersome at first but I have gotten used to it. I will give it a good test
drive and report back soon. Thanks.

The LogMeIn Ignition app for the iPhone does not require using the Safari browser to log in or control your remote computer. It is much faster than Safari on the iPhone 3GS.

Downloaded the logmein ignition app for my itouch. Works great with amazing charts. $30 one time fee for the app. I use the program, logmein free on the master computer. No monthly fee.

Will be nice option when traveling and need access to amazing charts. Will just stop at a McDonalds or Starbucks (for free wifi) and pull up the info. Nice.

Tangent, but as far as the iPhone OS, I use LogMeIn Ignition on my iPad, and it works well; although it takes some adjusting to how the touch interface works. Once you get used to it, multi-touch remote control is a hoot.

If AT&T is dodgy in your part of the world, a WIFI iPad is a valid alternative.

As some would say, if you are a bit of a propeller type, you can use an iPad tethered to your smart phone; it particular the new Android (Froyo) has been used to tether the iPad.

I'll have my iPad with me @ ACUC 2010 if anyone wants to to take it for a spin.
